I do wish it'd be possible to have a few of the extra class/race combinations. Dwarf Shaman/Warlock/Mage.

I feel that those combinations just don't fit you know... dwarf shaman? ehh, dwarfs don't seem shamanistic, and they looked really weird with shaman gear on. Warlock, possibly, but mage? Dwarfs just don't seem like the thinker/graceful spellcaster type you know.

Same with orc mage. Orc is stoopit orc smash! mages dont really resonate with orc.

I also like how in vanilla shamans and paladins were only in one faction, it seemed more lore-like. I wish this game stayed in its warcraft roots, thats what made it cool. (talking about after wotlk)

My reaction towards the TBC nostalrius release announcement was bigger than any other expansion to be announced in Retail WoW.

I think it was simply down to being unable to balance having Paladins/shamans on one faction. Yes it does seem lore like to split them but I guess Blizzard chose gameplay instead of lore.

Pretty much.
Shamans were always gimped vs paladins, specially following the 1.9 talent rework on paladins (something that shamans never got) that made it easy for all of them to have BoK, to have 15 min blessings that were applied class wide as opposed to the rough limitations on totesm, to tank without having to burn their seal slot, on top of the previous advantages of having plate (and shamans not having an armor converter akin to bear form) + BoF/BoP utility, and triple debuff dispel that no other healer class ever had.

The moment both factions received the 2 classes, shamans were pushed to the position they've kept for years now, as one of the most consistently nerfed and underpowered classes in WoW.

Lore in WoW was always sketchy. As someone that cares about this game mostly because I loved Warcraft as a kid, rather than because I care about MMOs (I actually don't), the whole renewed Alliance/Horde dual focus seems pretty lackluster compared to the story that came before. Humans and orcs were the secondary characters of the story by TFT. Pity we didn't get to play as Illidari, Scourge (other than 3 levels as intro DK), legion or any of the more interesting sides. But I disgress.

A nugget of truth.

Depends, people like me, who bought initial shares, have made quite a bit (260% of original investment) money from this and if you check out the stocks of ACTI, it has rocket-boosted (while now it is going down, thanks to China and other world-based issues). ;)

However, Nostalrius has rekindled that gamer-feel that I've had 10 years ago, similarly like the recent full campaign play-through of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 HD!
