I thought english in public channels was a rule?

by Thany » Tue Mar 08, 2016 9:37 am

Seriously guys, making english clients non-optional isn't racist.
It's in harmony with the server rules of english in public channels.
The unbearable lag will be fixed with clustering, this will still remain an issue..
Not to mention the horrible blank text spamming and grop invites from lvl 1 players.. no idea how that's to be dealt with tho. >.<

I am pretty amazed how this can be such a huge issue for some people when for me personally it's minor inconvenience if any at all.

I mean on retail you can use any language in public chat and in EU there are A LOT of different languages you will never understand. Why is this such a huge problem on Nostalrius all of a sudden?

yeah why is it such an issue that there are 2 entirely separate communities on the server that can barely interact with each other?

if you have a decent guild i'm sure it is not a huge issue. you only see the spam. but i imagine that players who rely on pug and open world communication to get anything done (instance runs, BGs, trade, etc.) it can be quite stressful that 2/3 people they meet will not be able to tell them more than "     "

I'm level 46 currently, and have had no issues getting groups started for fishing for groups in the chat.
Mind you, I do have an entirely separate chat window for the world channel feed. Only issues I've noted (which is very minor as not a constant occurrence) is guild advertising, normally more than 3 lines and lightly spammed when the user sees fit/remembers to do so.

I love clicking the coloured brackets to explore the items they're selling, occasionally, but the huge upside to the lack of actual text means their chat lines are far shorter than the average English-based item links.

So yes I'm okay with other communities too.

Disregard their good post purely because they're not 60?

Given your post history you're the one people shouldn't be paying attention to.

If someone is talking in non-English in a public chat channel, make a ticket so we can remind them of the English-only rule. You cannot realistically expect that we monitor all chat channels at all times.
