I flat share with 3 other gamers

by Barnyski » Wed Mar 23, 2016 1:47 pm

Me and all my flat mates just started this together. But we have been told some horror stories about using the same IP and that it may get flagged as botting, resulting in all accounts being banned.

There are 4 of us using the same IP. will our accounts get flagged?

Your accounts won't get banned for Botting if you use the same IP.

However, you might get investigated by GM's for Multiboxing, but if you are multiple people you shouldn't worry at all.

Just do what ever the GM's ask you to do and you are fine.

Also, don't use /follow if one of you has to AFK.

Edit: New Players and Accounts might get banned as a false positive by the ChatSpam detection.
This system is in place to combat goldseller spam accounts.

If one of you gets banned by that system, just create an unban appeal in the "Account Issues" section.

To prevent that, try to avoid using public chat channels until level 15.

This is no problem, as long you are indeed 4 persons playing, and not 1 person playing 4 characters.

Also a friendly advice: Never use /follow. Never.
If one of you need to go AFK, then log off. Don't go on /follow - if a GM spots you, and your friend is "on the bathroom" while following, then you are in reality multiboxing - also if just being for a few minutes.

no you're not lol
i can afk /follow on whoever i want, no matter if it's the same ip or not.

the question is: can you prove it to the GM. so yeah don't do that. but it is not technically multiboxing.

It actually is, GM's can't see the players room/house.

If someone gets investigated because of Multiboxing (and he is using multiple computers) he could say this as an excuse and while doing that call for his Brother/Sister/Mother/Father to take care of the other character for a few seconds.

It technically IS multiboxing, although I really stretch the term to the limit :-) - you are controlling (moving) both yourself and another player.

The main point is - as you say - you can't prove you are not multiboxing if there's only one person playing.

In my home there are 3 people who play on Nostalrius; not always at the same time, and not always together. In fact, one positvely cannot play with the other two because they are too young and spend most of their time running after wolves in Northshire, not understanding what else to do, but having a damn good time any way.

So as long as you are legitimate, there is no reason why 3 people cannot play from the same IP.

It would be pretty easy to spot if you are not legitimately playing, and it would not be long before you got banned.

I have leveled 2 characters 1-60 together with a person on the same IP and never had any issues. We would /follow on bathroom breaks, I don't have the screenshot but I was told its ok to /follow on bathroom breaks as long as it doesnt happen too often
