Does it still happen that if you take a break they delete your characters?! how long were you away for?

We have never deleted any characters. Players who share their accounts with other people end up finding characters deleted: "Just a prank bro!" and then blame us. Or their account was hacked and the characters strip-mined and then deleted.

@Potty

I never meant to imply that it was a conscious decision by a GM. My account was idle for over 6 months, and from my experience with other vanilla servers characters are automatically "flushed" when they have been idle for a very long time. I just assumed it was the same with Nostalrius. If not, then I don't know what happened because I didn't share my account with anybody. Is it somehow possible to retrieve lost characters?

Unfortunately we do not restore lost characters.

Bear: Warrior
Cat: Rogue DPS
Oomkin: Caster
Druid: Healer/Caster
etc.

I have to disagree with this simply because whilst a druid can "fill many roles", they're outshined in those roles by the rest of the classes
Warrior > Bear
Rogue > Cat
Mage/Lock > moonkin
Paladin/Priest > resto

and the majority of guilds on the server will not accept a bear/cat/moonkin unless you're best mates with the guild leader because it's not considered viable atm

This is true for raiding and only raiding. The game supports all hybrids and builds in nearly all areas OTHER than raiding. Raiding was tacked on as an end game creation to mash as many players into as little content as possible. Raiding is broken ... not the game.

Outside of raiding you cannot look at Feral (especially) as a single form. You change forms constantly (power shifting) and as a whole the class is equal if not better than some others (Good feral players can easily beat rogues and most warriors in pvp). If raiding is a primary consideration then the hybrid situation applies of course and players are looking at serious troubles getting into raids (such as only a single class build being allowed in at best sometimes). Sadly this is a limitation of vanilla wow.

I went with something I never really tried this time around too. I played rogue, druid and warlock in vanilla as primaries and decided to go hunter this time around. Glad I did although had to learn macros real fast as the class is nigh-impossible to play without them. Macros are a big part of the reason why some hunters are great and many are bad.

You've always played caster. You've always destroyed warriors in duels and pvp so now it's time to play a warrior to experience the other side of things.

Warlock is pretty OP if you want an easier time leveling. If you really like the RDPS playstyle you can also try Hunter. Both are pet classes, so you can kill a lot of stuff without even pulling agro yourself...

mages are good for three things only:

1) Sheep
2) Food/Portals
3) Doing nonesense

and they do only the last thing without beeing asked 3 times.
