What's up with the lag?

So I've just came back to this server after a long break near release and I'm enjoying it - however the lag is making me very frustrated and I don't want to invest many hours into the character just to play on a laggy server that takes 3x as long to cast a spell or loot an item. Is this lag only temporary?

same boat as you I recently returned. it is population related. It is not temporary it is here to stay (unless clustering changes it). There are 10k too many players on the PVP server, many of which dont speak english and are there simply to bot, hack, sell gold, farm gold. They run around with high ping too and make the experience generally worse for the rest of the players that actually abide by the TOU. The chinese/Russians have all transferred here too due to basically no barriers to entry and the recent popularity of NOST. They stole many players' acct info recently and took over their accts, buying/selling gold on them. So in a nutshell, the server is WAYYYY overpopulated! My estimation is that 20 - 30% of the population are breaking the TOU in some way and are involved in shady activities. During peak time for china/EU the game is unplayable for many w/ 1-3 second delays on every key press.

So many facts have been pulled from yer ass that I really cant take you seriously.
Nost team is working on a solution for the population so be patient!

If you hate the current status of the server and would rather play something else then please go ahead.

Sorry you feel that way. I felt I was pretty accurate with my post aside from my opinion on the % of players that are breaking the TOU (that was speculative). Racial accusations? Are u arguing the fact that the majority of gold sellers/hackers, etc are not Chinese/Russian? Are you new to MMORPGs?

Well if you say that the team is working on it, any sources so I can read up on it would be helpful - and most of the population is indeed breaking rules (hopefully will be banned?) - I'm gonna continue to play, hopefully it is sorted averagely soon. Thanks for the replies.

They did have a very large ban wave on compromised accounts which will be sorted out over time.
Like most private servers you will get the good with the bad. I believe the good is the majority here.

Up until recently I really had no interaction with gold sellers and for MAYBE 3 days did it get annoying.

Wow, that clustering idea seems really clever and sounds like it will be great if they can get it up and running. Thanks for the source there - I'll definitely keep my eyes on that.
