Items that changes in further patches

Hey,
what happens to the items that will change in future patches ?
For example Seal of Wrynn will get buffed in 1.9 - does that mean that the already existing one will get buffed ?
Or is it better to wait with the Quest in order to get the better one ?

How was this handled in the past ?

As far as i know when the items get changed you have to delete the cache folder in your wow folder and then the items should be changed when they're patched.

The items get changed server side but the cache thing is just for you to see the change

The item has its stats changed, regardless of what you see. Deleting WDB is helpful in that you see the right stats. It does not matter if the item is in your bank, your bags or is equipped.
