You have to deal with this, there MUST be solutions, move the server, do something, im starting to thinking that that letter from blizzard never came, and you just want to give up on your own project.

So what do you think he shall do? He maked a hudge impact on blizzard already and they might rethink about making vanilla servers when Nostalrius have 800K ACCOUNTS.
What you are saying is that he shall fight back a multi million company? He will go to jail or pay shitload of money in dept to blizzard. So you know what i think you should do? Be grateful that he made this experience for uss and understand how wonderful a REAL mmo is.. Fuck you.

I dont think blizzard has to think about that at this point. they got plenty of people gulping up whatever shit they shovel on their plates that couldnt care less about blizzard closing some private server out of pure jealousy, in fact, these very drones will side with blizzard and cheer for this triumphant victory putting another massive dent to the vicious private server scene which is hurting my lovely master blizzard. Can i have another truckload of shite please blizzard?

By default, if you are held accountable, you are liable to pay for damages - meaning any profits Blizzard might have lost from people playing Nostalrius. Meaning they would calculate every person played on Nostalrius servers and then add up the normal Blizzard subscription fees plus the duration this server was online since 2015.

That is a big dough of cash that no man in here could afford to pay.

If bailing out is "chicken", then I don't blame them.

First they would need to prove anyone would actually pay for subscription + you can buy subs with enough gold farming so yeh, kinda hard to prove the loss :)

As far as names and other property goes that i agree!

But the thing is they don't have to. The moment the court held an intellectual property right is infringed, a causal link is automatically established, and damages is the next course of action.

Nostalrius IS World of Warcraft. It is not Eve online, it is not Runescape. It IS World of Warcraft. And as such, Blizzard does not need to prove anyone would actually pay for subscription, only those who play Nostalrius' World of Warcraft are people that should (by definition) be the customer of Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

And because people played on Nostalrius instead of the original owner - Blizzard. Damage is established.

If I am the receiving end of the law suit. I have two options - file bankruptcy or get my passport then start packing. Or pray to God that the French hosting server company does not have my real life ID and info.

If blizzard would go as far as to collect damages. I would go as far as showing how I didn't resubscribe to wow this month.

I was paying blizz to let me play nost. They took it away - so did i.

I don't understand how Blizzard is thinking.

For the first time I actually agree with you Wrathran.

It's funny to see some people say that it should've been hosted in Sweden, but obviously they are not protected there either. Giant companies like Blizz have full access to most EU jurisdictions because of trade agreements so they will get taken down. There are even minor streaming sites in Sweden being taken down, it's not like Sweden is the wild west.

The most obvious choice to host this would probably be China or Russia.
