Someone came up with the idea of using peer 2 peer networks to maintain Vanilla; effectively making the server completely autonomous. I have no idea how this could work, or if it is even possible.

Most (if not all) private servers in China was closed down recently, so don't bet on China as the next hosting country.

really? as a Chinese player I have not know such news... And many amateur private server teams advertise their fucking servers with 20x exp here and there... Maybe leting blizzard close them all is a good solution, but now they seems still alive.
