The main point is they all work together despite being different. We're all fighting for one cause under one banner. Well save for that boot licker with the red robed gnome as his profile pic. Pretty sure he's only here because his dad didn't pay for his beloved retail this month.
'tis but a jest, brother!

alostic wrote:you guys need to get over it. this is the private server life. when you chose to play on this server you accepted risk of all your shit just being gone. refunding and protesting blizzard products is petty as fuck you obviously purchased it because you had interest in it.

alostic wrote:dont you find it a bit odd that not even 2 weeks after they posted the change to their financial situations that they get the letter from blizz. for you to believe that all the money donated went into the server funds you must also be ignorant unless of course nost posts public records of all the donations and what their budget was for it. you also take in to account the gold sellers making a ton of money off this server.

it just comes down to everyone making money on world of warcraft except blizzard which is fucked up because its their game. you can't say its not the same game to avoid copyright just because its a different version. thats like saying the version of minesweeper that came with windows 95 is a different game from that released with windows 10.

Why is it ignorant to believe their money was being funneled straight into the server? The donation page was hidden and they sold literally nothing, not even cosmetic stuff.
From a profit oriented business perspective everything they did would've been retarded. And they fought the goldselling so hard that people often got banned for false positives.

Retail and Vanilla is so far apart that calling it a different version is an understatement. They're direct opposites in a lot of key aspects.
Minesweeper is literally the same as it has always been, your logic is flawed.
I'm open for conflicting opinions but at least put a minimal amount of effort into thinking it through.
The only potentially reasonable argument I've heard so far is from the forum lawyers chanting "Intellectual property" I don't know enough about the specific laws to argue against that, but claiming old stuff you aren't putting to use is petty and greedy in my opinion, and I think it's reasonable not to support that mindset.

Going a bit off script here, I don't see why blizzard would be mad even IF nost was profiting off their ancient product. Blizzard have openly ridiculed the idea of legacy servers on multiple occasions, so what is the big problem with other people making some money they obviously aren't interested in making themselves? Heck, they could even work something out where blizzard gets a cut for doing absolutely nothing.
I personally couldn't care less if someone decided to fix up and resell the bike I recently dumpstered, I know there is a market for that kind of stuff but I just can't be arsed to do it.

It's inspiring to see the community migrate as well, already met dozens of Nost players on Rebirth and everyone is talking about new videos on the incident and ways to get back at Blizz

I'm not going to get into this argument otherwise but I will correct this factual error. The financial statement that Viper made was that if players wanted to, they could pay our hosting costs directly to OVH. We were not involved in that at all. To reiterate - no money came to the Nost team from players.

Previously, when the donation link was available, the money that came in - which wasn't much - was used to upgrade the server hardware. The admins often had to pay hosting costs from their own pocket. Because we didn't beg for donations, advertise for donations or utilize a cash shop. Please do not insult the admins by spreading total lies.

honestly, i really was planning on dicking around in legion, even know it wasnt going to hold my interest. but after this the ONLY way i would pay for another blizzard product is if they do a classic server launch like every other MMO has done.
