Can we get a rough estimate?

by fordragon77 » Wed Apr 13, 2016 2:39 pm

I understand there is a lot of pressure on everybody right now and it takes time to make the best decision possible but could we at least get a rough estimate about when are you gonna announce whats next?

Like is there a possibility that it will take months until something happens or it's likely at least in a month? So we know if it's worth waiting or might as well just reroll somewhere else cause it might take very long. I don't expect a definitve 100% answer, just what is more likely to happen.

Thanks

It definitely sounds like you loved Nostalrius more than me, something I never thought possible.

I think they are giving a little bit time to Blizzard to make an official announcement. But I think its pretty clear Blizzard buried his head in sand like they always do.

Dear Nostalrius buddy, I don't understand what are your expectations. There won'be any 'nostalrius 2', not in the magnitude of Nostalrius begins. The awesome success of Nostalrius begins was also it's nail in the coffin. many other private wow-servers are struggling, none was as popular as Nos was. Once the number of accounts passed a certain treshold number, the blip appeared on Blizzard's 'radar' and the 'policemen' there suddenly said to themselves: Nostalrius? Shit, it's getting big! We must do something about it. And they did. Understand, EVERY private WOW server is illegal, since none of them paid anything to Blizzard and can't be considered as owner of the Blizzards's 'intelectual property' a.k.a. the game server code. Same as with songs/movies: you can make some copies for you, your friends and your sweatheart, its illegal but NOBODY CARES, to sue you would be too much of a fuss since the damage you are doing is negligible. But if you make a milion copies and start selling them and earing money, things are different.
There are no legal alternatives, just more illegal ones like hosting some private WOW server in..Noth Korea (heck they would even pay you to piss off Blizzard, probably) etc. The maneouvering space is cramped in that compartment.
Nos was awesome, it was helluva wild ride while it lasted.
Nos devs, thanks for the good memories.

I disagree with the ilegal part, I bought the game 10 years ago and Nost weren't making any profit from it, so how is that stealing? (in your example you implied "for profit" as a point to be harmful).

To me it just comes down to an outdated law not including mmo's in the abandoware section.. blizz should have no right to deprive me from playing the game I already bought, they can stop offering the service themselves, but they can't ban people from playing it. I think of the mensual fee as a price to access quality servers, customer service, bug fixing and eventual content releases.

I still doubt Blizzard had any law basis to shut down Nost, dmca doesn't apply in EU afaik (I've tried to find any law changing this...)

Well. Warmane is as popular as Nost, as the only one I can think of however.

I'm sure as Nost was the "hot flavor of the month" it would have surpassed it given more time.

Also the other servers aren't struggling. Many of them have active populations just like Nost did, just not in shear volume like Nost did.

Just be patient and play something else/somewhere else in the meanwhile, this is a special case. It's not worth it just sitting her waiting for an announcement imo.

Yeah sure. It's all fake numbers man. They have peak 11k concurrent players online and world feels empty or around 3k.

Lordaeron feels pretty alive. I've heard they fake their numbers, but yet to see proof.
