Retail wow forums

I was subbed to retail the whole time i was on Nost (and stopped when Nost was stopped) so i kept checking the forums over there in the hope of seeing someone from blizzard making a announcement on vanilla servers, which to date they havent and on top of that they have deleted alot of posts regarding them like some kind of secret police. The one thing i have noticed on the retail forums is how many trolls there are and how poisonous they are.
Im not saying some of that existed on Nost but i dont feel like it was anywhere near the level it is on retail.
My thoughts are thats what happens when you lose all sense of community and have no reason to help each other out.
Id also like to add that its been a long time since of been part of a as friendly community as Nost inside the gaming world and outside of it to and wish everyone the best of luck with whatever they are doing now.

Ever since they changed the forums to a voting system it's been a total shit show. I try not to read it. It's a breeding ground for all the blizzard brown nosers who will support blizzard through every boring expansion, every bad decision and will downvote anyone who has a differing opinion to oblivion.

The one thing I couldn't believe was that towards the end of MoP if any of you actually had a live account active still, someone made that addon Oqueue and it totally made the game playable. Then Blizzard changed their code and blocked it from working so they could make their own version. When the guy posted on the forums to say his farewell he was downvoted beyond belief, shit talked relentlessly about how his addon was a bloated piece of shit even though it made the game playable for a long time.

So ever since then I've not posted there but I did happen to check in and read some of the threads about nost going down. The ones that aren't deleted in a matter of minutes are full of the circlejerkers upvoting anything pro blizzard and downvoting anything questioning them. It's a cesspool.

I played through to the end of pandaria on retail and subbed back a few months ago with a plan to get to lvl 100 and be ready for legion. (I am unsubbed now).

Retail is full of trolls and I believe the reason is that there are no consequences for acting like an asshole. You can just transfer off your realm, in fact you don't even have to interact with anyone on your realm. You can just do lfg and lfr and bgs and act like a moron all through it every time and no-one will ever see you again. You don't need help with any quests. You don't actually need to be nice to anyone or even be in a guild. Same with the forums, although i haven't been on them for years. I looked at my old realm forums and no-one even posts there. We used to be proud of our server, now it's all merged anyway.

Part of the success of private servers is that they are closed and you see the same people all the time. You become part of a community. If you post crap on our forums it will affect your in game reputation. If you act like an idiot in a MC pug or guild run you won't get invited back. We had some characters for sure, and there were rivalries etc but it was fun.
