Without the custom anti-cheat and other 3rd party software they have running it's practicality useless to other servers too.

Honestly, anticheat is NOT the biggest thing nost contributed to the codebase. It's the slew of random fixes, script improvements and database updates.


I wasn't going to talk about this but I actually developed my own hacking suite for nostalrius and I used it throughout my entire play-through since launch day. No ban. (DO NOT ASK FOR THIS, IT'S NEVER BEING MADE PUBIC)

What im saying is, nost's anticheat isn't some pinnacle of progress in the server community.

What's really important is all that work that went into perfecting the actual content.

/agree with this completely. They also did an incredible thing pushing capacity as far as they did. I'm really looking forward to seeing the code and how they solved some of those long-time problems that are still with mangos today.
