I agree the goodwill they would receive if they condone legacy servers is nice, but does it outweigh the perceived negative damage to the franchise? How do you quantify goodwill, anyway?
It has the ability to get people to buy WoD, even after the cluster fuck known as Cataclysm. It brings the belief that each coming iteration will fix the last, it also spreads by word of mouth.
