Simply that it was one of the ideas that has been floated in the internal discussion about what to do with the outcry for legacy servers.
So I think there could be good news yet. Brack posted about there not being a clear legal path to licensing a private server, but he did not say that there was no legal path, that they would not pursue that path. He stated that the challenges were great in creating a legacy realm, not that they were insurmountable.
In typical Blizz fashion, they are looking for the cheapest, easiest way to try to appease people.
RPs: "We want player housing!"
Blizz: "Here's garrisons."
PvPers: "We want old school AV."
Blizz: "Okay, you can have Ashran."
Us: "We want Legacy servers."
Blizz: "Well, how about the current game, only slower... we're calling it 'Prinstine Servers.'"
You'd think11k pages would have given them a clue, but apparently they haven't wrapped their heads around this yet.
Do the math. Do the work. Give something back to the fans for a change!
Okay, /rant over. Now, we need to figure out exactly what is holding them back and come up with solutions. One problem is the licensing. I don't know what else...
