Quite frankly I don't understand you're very strong stance against Blizzard. Could they fuck it up? sure however that would just be shooting themselves in the foot like the one you qouted people would be out of there in no time at all. Besides that It's not like private servers are that pure. Cause so far I haven't seen a single server besides nostalrius yet that didn't have some sort of shop and besides that if they truly screw up you can always go back to private servers. I don't believe private servers will dissapear even if blizzard gives us legacy realms. Hell there even are WoD private servers and that shit is still at least somewhat relevant atm and I'm pretty sure there are legion private realms being made atm aswell. Yet blizzard doesn't seem to give a crap about closing those while they are direct competitors to what they are offering.
So yea I'm willing to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt if they were to create legacy realms. Because if they do it right I finally can play vanilla wow again without having to worry about my characters being deleted or the server stopping anytime soon and if they do fuck it up I'm pretty sure there will still be private servers for me to play on.
