Was Nostalrius better or worse than Vanilla?

It's a complicated question and if it must be condensed into a "Which is better and why?" question I'd say Nos was better.

It was better because the game had all the modern updates to the net code, the server could support well more than 5k people the originals did and Nos players had the benefit of knowing what is coming for patch notes.

Vanilla is the best game ever, but Nos was as vanilla as possible with modern tech. Long and short of it.

I'd also like to add that while Nostalrius had lag issues sometimes, it was NOTHING compared to the server issues Blizzard had back in the day.

Objectively speaking, I'd say Nostalrius was much better, despite the bugs. Original Vanilla had plenty of bugs after all. However, it's hard to separate the memories and nostalgia from the original experience.

Original Vanilla had plenty Lags either and caused huge issues , back in the days EU Burning Blade died from lags when they first time allowed free migration away from it.

Burning Blade EU was server with over 2000 Population and unplayable when there was some PVP action somewhere, most of the time it was "global server down" when Raid City would happen.

One thing that made vanilla real vanilla better then Nost is that no one knew shit, and that only made it more of a Real world feel for me. Nost will ALWAYS be the best privite server, and amazaing for everything it gave us. But Vanilla World of Warcraft will always be the Best MMO, if that makes sense. (Although having 10k people on the server may make it slightly better then vanilla depending on who you ask. World pvp was amazaing Being a night elf warrior turned me into a god damn Mortalstrike hero.)

Nothing beats original vanilla, but Nost did an amazing job. It enhanced vanilla with the server size.

It was close enough, blizzard will always have the better servers due to it being live and having a lot more devs working on bugs. However, Nost did the best they could and it was one hell of an XP

Hands down worse. If you thought the pinnacle of your 04-06 experience was min/maxing and shaving a few minutes off of clear times and raidlogging, then that might be another story.

Honestly, when i played Nost it had been so long since i lvled and played the old world that it all felt very new. I also still hadn't cleared BWL when Nost went down, so i still have stuff to explore tbh.
