They named the new server Elysium because it's not Nostalrius.
Nostalrius is the server the community played on, most of the people asking for fresh didn't play on Nostalrius. Why should you be entitled to the Nostalrius name?

It's only logical it's not called something that it isn't.

The old realms will keep their old names. Not only is this brand recognition but it means that players can jump back in and all their UI and addons will work without a hitch. The new realm will be named Elysium in honour of the new team behind this project. The names are not going to change.
