The 800k accounts on nostalrius created is outright SICK, however it wouldnt be an instant market of 800k, there are more factors to it.
First of all, a ton of people had bank accounts, alts on different accounts, I myself had like 3 including summoners, alts, banks. Also a lot of people probably quit after a day or a week or a month. Another big portion would probably not pay the monthly cost for official wow legacy servers, that much for the negative parts.
Now on the other side however, how many people refuse to play on private servers, havent heard of nostalrius, did never bother with private servers or arent aware of the possibilities, how many retail people would try vanilla.
Only sophisticated market researching can tell, but Id bet a good dime that it would be worth it. Now for how long would vanilla hook players up though is another question.

then with all this said lets say the people not playing anymore and the people not knowing about nost to counter balance that we come to a wash. meaning if all things said and done Blizzard did a server came out to just as many people as nost did. 150k accounts at 15 bucks a month is 2.25Mil a month 10 mil a qtr this might sound like alot to people but looking at the reported earnings of blizzard netting ruffly 1.16 bil in FY 2015 per qtr this would only raise there profits by .08% per qtr that is not deducting any cost from the 10mil from the 150k users. this might be why they just dont give a fuck =(.

TLDR: not enough profit for blizzard to care.
