The moment I saw this post I wondered why on Earth would anyone post this HERE of all places. You do realise that atleast 50% of the users here are pissed at Blizzard for all they've done, right? And after that you come out with an idea that will help Blizz make MORE money (money that by many accounts they don't deserve at all) and proceed to publicaly eat up more of their shit by supporting them. People don't just come here to play vanilla again. Some people are actualy very cross with Blizz for runing one of their favorite games into the ground. Also the whole thing about private servers being "short time" is 90% negative thinking. Nost already achieved what other privates couldn't so why not think it'll go all the way? You have a better reason to think that than to think they'll be going down soon. Pull yourself out of Blizzard's ass while you can (if you still can) and stop giving them pats on the head.

Blizzard will release legacy servers eventually. Though I feel like they'll find a way to screw it up. Selling instant 60's or some stupid shit.

Your negativity isn't an argument. Nostalrius isn't going to fail just because you say so or because you had some bad experiences with other private servers. To be honest I hope Blizz does make legacy servers so people like yourself can be happy. I really would like that. Then I would like them to fuck it all up with instant 60 boosts and some other crap like that so the decent players can come back here.

Because in the end, they made the game. Just because they made mistakes doesn't mean they own every single right to the title. And I'm not looking to Blizzard to make the game better, because they won't do better than Nostalrius, but they have money. And Nostalrius doesn't. I'm trying to look out for us post-nost.

I also don't think they "made the game shit," they just went in a different direction with it, one older players don't enjoy as much as new ones do. (I personally will never resub to WoW unless legacy servers were brought up, but I'm not mad at Blizzard or anything.)

They didn't make the game. A group of amazing developers and pioneers of their time did. 95% of those people are now long gone from Activision-Blizzard.

This is also why I don't understand why anyone still fanboys Blizzard to this day. Blizzard is nothing more than a bunch of moneymilking corporate sacks of shit living off of the old products goodwill.

OHHH thank you finally someone else who sees this. Just look at the old blizzard games, SC:BW, warcraft 3, Classic WoW.... all games made with love and made to create awesome experiences, not once did I feel as though the devs thought to just make money out of it. Yet, they made blizzard most of their money. After Acti-jewzzard formed? lol. The games are pure shit and only made to try and take as much money out of the "casual" userbas as possible. Just look at shitstone and overcrap. Heroes of the Shit also is terribad compared to todays Mobas. And, paradoxically, they are losing money now (at least compared to their growth with good games).

Also as a response to OP... While yea private servers are "temporary", and sometimes shady, I have my faith in the Nost Devs, they seem like people who just want to create a good experience, but of course I still don't let my guard down.

But think about it, Retail WoW is also a temporary thing isnt it, where is all your progress and hard work now? ruined by acti-jewzzard.

TBH i'd rather the nost devs fix this server up and we play it for free, rather than paying 15$ a month to actijewzzard and their shit ass fat fucks who run it. Also, as other people said, I have a feeling stupid things like fucking transmog and instant 60 shit would come to it, you know how jewzzard is now they do anything to make quick buck

To be honest, I was at first reluctant to play on privates servers, and specifically Vanilla servers, as the progression can be really slow and tough, and even more for "casuals" just like you (amarite ?).

However, the servers I've played on (mostly nationals servers, around ~300 players) weren't meaned to last.
I've already rolled on several realms, played plenty of toons and yes, one day or another, all of this was and will be lost.

So i wasn't sure about all this Nostalrius thing again.
However I still got to play here since day one, and later convinced my brother to play with me.

Being brothers, we have altough really differents playstyles ; While I play nearly everyday the same and only char, to make him as powerful as possible, he keep rerolling and rerolling (already 3 levels max) charachters of every classes.

One day, as I see him playing another low level Troll Hunter in 10-19 WSG I ask him why he keeps doing this and how useless it is.

Then he managed to say something somehow really deep ;

"Do you still see you playing WoW in 10 or 15 years ? Altough you know you'll still loose all your toons when you die. The point of this is having fun".

For since I changed my view over private servers and realised he was right.
I hope you can all think about this

Thank you for that story, it's really enlightening. I'm sorry to the people on this post who thought I was trying to smash on Nostalrius or kiss Blizzard's ass, I was just looking for a permanent solution because it's hard to see it the way you do. Time-waste has just always been a very stressful thing on me. I will rethink what I'm aiming for on this server.
