The bots don't buy stuff that aren't at a cut price, they scan the auction houses in the capital cities before moving to neutral cities in order to get a clear image of the real value of stuff.
Besides, the AH would still take the 15% cut with this method.

The time-consuming part if you're doing this yourself is getting to a neutral auction house. For that I would suggest running and swimming along the east coast of Kalimdor rather than trying to run to get to Gagetzan.
You must be playing on the PvE server then, because on the PvP server more often than not there will be at least 1 bot, and I do this fairly often.
The dude wants the gold transferred to alliance. The best option is creating a human and running to STV, and for horde creating a Troll/Orc, swimming to ratchet and boating to STV is quicker.
