You win the lottery, you celebrate for a week, then you just wonder where to spend the stuff, get bored of the things you buy fairly quick, probably lose it all fairly soon since you don't quite appreciate it:

People who made themselves, got to overcome hardship with just their 2 hands and their wit, will rarely ever squander what they've earnt and will wake up every day feeling appreciative, as they know what it cost to procure them.

Things in life don't matter. They're inert after all.
The human experience around them does, as well as the sensations and thoughts people develop.

Some friends tell me that I was simply born rich enough to never have to appreciate material comfort and that's why I am how I am, but honestly, I've seen enough people go through life having shiny things as their clay idol, and seen how they end up, that I'm confident this isn't just bias.

Well that was really useless... and went over my head. Next time you have something to say make sure its not just about yourself. You'll end up farther in life i'm sure....

I understood him fully on the first reading and I thought what he typed was really eloquent and thoughtful. If English isn't your first language, you should let people know so they can type it in a simpler form.

Is there a text/transcript version of these vids? I'd like to check them but I tend to lose focus more often when it's audiovisual rather than when it's text.

Think of it this way OP, The more shit you gotta fight through the more things you'll vaule and enjoy. I mean let's say you haven't eatin in about four or five days because you're homeless or somthing, so i mean you'll eat dirt or worms ETC. Then you know life clears up you go home, but you're poor. You go eat a piece of white bread, That bread is the best thing you'll ever have. It's like that with WoW, You suffer through B.S lose and make friends, start doing drugs. Beat up strippers, fall in love and end up, half dead on your chair with a grin one hand on the keyboard another at the ciggerate in your mouth. Enjoy the struggle! The more you suffer for somthing and fight for it, the more vaule it has to you.

I don't think Blizzard set out from the start to design a game so popular & rewarding that it would bring out the "compulsive" side in some people...they just made an MMO with their existing franchise & it snowballed beyond their expectations. You can't really plan for the level of success with vanilla WoW. I'm sure they would have made a few changes otherwise.

On another note, I do think you are putting vanilla WoW on a big ass pedestal tho.

Hell, what we are playing at the moment hardly classifies as vanilla WoW. Although the mechanics and all that jazz are blizzlike, the game plays a lot different than 10 years ago. People are a lot more skilled now and tactics can be found anywhere on the internet (even up to date versions if you watch streams/videos of high-end guilds), so everyone and their mother has BWL on farm and is decked out in BiS gear. The only thing that is remotely hardcore about this game is the grinding for mats/consumables, but if anything that is more of a chore rather than a fun part of the game, especially as a healer.

Long story short, although the game is relatively hardcore compared to retail, it isn't that hardcore as you guys make it out to be
