Many players had more than one account
Many players were banned and made new accounts, banned accs are still counted.
Many players may have found levelling the old way way too hard and quit before lvl 10

And last but not least the plague of goldsellers, their bots and spammers

All of these could make accounts for free and if we really really had 800k dedicated players, as some are trying to portray that number as, then why is petition not even at 100k now?

Please end this myth of 800k, it does us no favours.

It's tempting to call you something but well...

No one claimed there were 800k active accounts.
- It's 800k registered accounts. (people that signed up since server opened whether they stayed to play or not, still shows interest)
- It's 150k active accounts. (separate accounts that logged on at least once in a 10 day period)
- It's 18-19k peak concurrent players. (players on the realms at the same time, counting both PvP and PvE with PvP having the lion's share)

The title of this thread says 800k, the memes that are going around all say 800k, it's almost like the fanboys want people to believe there was 800k as 800k keeps being mentioned.

And even the 150k is fishy, why wasn't there 150k sigs on the petition within 24 hours? it's a few days now and it still hasn't hit 100k.

Well, I agree mostly. But 150k is pretty fair. These are ACTIVE according to the official statement. Why not all 150 signed? Gold farmers, twink accounts and ppl who literally does not give a fuck. But you can't deny they were playing) You'll never be knowing the exact number of ppl on the server. The most precise stat is active accs.

Thing is that is not precise either, there may have been 150k active accounts, but there was not 150k individual players behind those accounts. Not with people being able to have multiple accounts, I've known people to have 5 or more on pservers, just for doing daily business such as playing the AH in both factions, storing mats for characters with already full banks, twinking, the list goes on.

They could have 2 maybe even 3 accounts open at the same time, not multiboxing but just having a toon at each AH and playing on their mains

And we were infested quite badly by goldfarmers and their spam bots. Just bot accounts there for making money, running on scripts. active on records, but not active as an actual player.

There are huge gaps in the numbers.

I just as much as any of you want Blizzard to re-release WoW as it was and start the journey over again. Without fear of being erased mid way through the journey. Unfortunately though just making up numbers from the top of ones head is not a great basis for a legal challenge.

Yeah, but Nost's player base is HUGE anyway. I've never seen such a resonanse towards a private server. So it's not about numbers, it's about an impact. There is little chance it can break through the B's wall of NO, but potential is pretty solid. #UTHINKWEDONTBUTWEDO!)
