The status is that currently, MMO players are finding out vanilla is a good game, if not the best. The number of players seems to be a constant 50,000 right now and this can increase further. It is unlikely to go down due to crap offered by modern MMOs.

Blizzard will not offer legacy servers, they will focus the discussion on pristine servers and maybe release it as a patch of the Legion barf they're producing. The developers will try to 'tune' the levelling experience. None of the many other lessons learned in vanilla will be applied by Blizzard in the foreseeable future.

Vanilla projects will become more and more professional, as the level of emulation and code increases. DDOS protection and virtualization will become better, vanilla private servers will start cooperating and offer transfer services more and more. Until it competes with retail. THAT IS when Blizzard will wake up and support legacy servers, for free. Since we will have forced them to.

I loved nos and always will but I'm not going to put my vanilla gaming experience on hold waiting for Blizzard. They will most likely milk the clock for a while and see if this will fizzle out. I've moved on for now, so have thousands upon thousands of other vanilla players. I play on 3 vanilla servers currently and all of which are running at maximum player capacity more times than not. No matter what blizzard decides we own vanilla now, vanilla will always be there if you look for it.

What ones are you playing on :)? Me and a friend would like to play somewhere, partly because i dont dare to hope that Blizz will implement them (but if they do, there is still such a long wait).

I'd start looking for a new game or forget about WoW. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on Blizzard because I doubt they would release a server during Legion, and WoW is overrated if you actually imagine what you're getting from the game compared to the many other things you could be doing. I even played Overwatch beta and that spoiled me so much that WoW looks boring now, even though I might consider trying a legacy server if its released because the nostalgia, progression, creative potential for my character, and social aspect is still enjoyable.

Overwatch is nothing new, and i dont understand that people seem to think that its something groundbreaking (its not). But lets say they agree to do it, your right that it will take a while, at least 6 months. Thats why most people now play other games or on other servers, i think thats a no brainer tho :)

PCI: Things move slowly in the world of Blizzard. Have you got a message for Mike and the team to help push this meeting along?

Mark Kern: Yes, in fact I just did. Date will be posted on my twitter feed @grummz and on my blog crixa.io very, very soon.

It's not.... It's team fortress with updated graphics... No way in hell I'd pay $40 for what you're getting.

Blizzard is just waiting for the time passed and passion will also gone. Then the legacy server topics will disapear and never show up. That's what I feel about blizzard's method dealing with nostalrius. Yes they are going to meet nostalrius but does that make any sense? They will give a very politic answer each time without any action.

Can confirm. Through my ventures on a few other servers since 4/6/2016, it was mainly re-rolls of private server players for the first 2 weeks. The last 2-3 weeks I've recruited MANY players who are first time Vanilla and started WotlK or later.

Most common remarkes:

"Leveling is tough!", "I've never been to most of these zones", "Where is the boat to SW" - kek, "I Think I'm done with retail" 95% of it is positive and only bitching I see is because "summoning stones are broken"

The publicity this shutdown got to the gaming masses is insane. I have family and friends that bring it up to me all the time with "hey did you hear about this server that got shut down......" and most don't even play games other than stupid ones on their cell phone. For the first month I couldn't go 2 days without somebody mentioning it to me.
