If you don't think a whole month of entertainment is worth the 13 dollars a month, I just don't know what's wrong.

Lifetime entertainment for 39 dollars sure beats 13 dollars each month.

Except p2p never directly translates to that, unless you play single player. They will always create the game in such a way that you'll have to use the shop eventually.

If that is the case then that's your problem. Not ours, nor Blizzards.

Blizzlike refers to in game concepts ... not payment models.

Nost adopted blizzlike philosophy but without a sub. As long as income required to run the game (at private or official support levels) does not impact game play ... THAT is blizzlike.

The payment model that supports any official vanilla server should be decided separately based on what fits the model best. I imagine a sub simply isn't the best choice overall especially if official support is done through 3rd party licensing and/or emulators.

Frankly modern indie games lean toward donations and/or crowd funding because it is a more flexible option and still allows the benefits of true f2p. The player base can choose to donate what they want without the pay to impact (defined by blizzlike principles). This even allows content options which is effectively voted for through donations.

The sub model is an assumption and a terrible one at that which does not reflect modern changes in mmorpg hosting and vanilla evolution. IF vanilla gaming is officially supported it will likely reflect near static development for each Wow version and would not required a full time sub income.

Which in turn resulted in a lot of unblizzlike things like characters on both factions in same account (which resulted in a lot of crossfaction cooperation/faction spying which somehow was okay on nost). Nost was anything but blizzlike if you look beyond the shiny surface.

1-time payment will guarantee the game will die eventually from lack of support. Those sub fees pay for GMs, Devs who do bugfixes, and allows the company to continue promoting the game so more new players find out about it. You can't expect it to leech off other projects, despite the fact that the success of vanilla made everything else possible in the first place - this is 2016, and even a company the size of Blizz has to justify all their products in a business sense. The community was lucky to have Nostalrius, they did a good job promoting the game before it was even released and they kept a very well organized staff (for a private server.)

Do people seriously think Blizzard would see a huge profit from this if there is no sub fee, no profit = legacy wont happen, how does your ego centric and cheap brain work :P!?

Do you people think they would really give us legacy servers if there was no subscription for them? Blizz wants a financial incentive.

Stop being cheap
