Blizzlike refers to in game concepts ... not payment models.
Nost adopted blizzlike philosophy but without a sub. As long as income required to run the game (at private or official support levels) does not impact game play ... THAT is blizzlike.
The payment model that supports any official vanilla server should be decided separately based on what fits the model best. I imagine a sub simply isn't the best choice overall especially if official support is done through 3rd party licensing and/or emulators.
Frankly modern indie games lean toward donations and/or crowd funding because it is a more flexible option and still allows the benefits of true f2p. The player base can choose to donate what they want without the pay to impact (defined by blizzlike principles). This even allows content options which is effectively voted for through donations.
The sub model is an assumption and a terrible one at that which does not reflect modern changes in mmorpg hosting and vanilla evolution. IF vanilla gaming is officially supported it will likely reflect near static development for each Wow version and would not required a full time sub income.
