Unless you are a complete moron, you would figure out that you are more likely to get your "precious" code - or db (i know thats what people are really after  ) after Blizz confirms they wont do it themselfs (aka most likely around blizzcon).

Killershama wrote:I think you are misunderstanding some major points here phyriel and I would not be surprised if others were confused as well. Blizzard creating legacy servers isn't necessarily going to destroy the private server community, in my opinion, its going to EVOLVE the community into something more! We will actually merge with the retail community in some type of form and we will be a larger community. Instead of being known as a private community, we will evolve an be known directly as a legacy community!

In regards to what Nostalrius wanted to do...the petition just wanted to show blizzard how many people care about legacy servers, and maybe we can come to an agreement about legacy. Its was not just about freeing Nostalrius if they could make an agreement. Also they really didn't FULLY promise anything about releasing the source code. Viper stated and I quote, "This date may be changed depending on the input provided by the overall feedback of legacy servers." -Viper- which means they may or may not release the code. The feedback showed that releasing it would not be wise since they got Blizzard's attention. Why release the code where you can make a stand at Blizzard Entertainment HQ stating that the world does want legacy and here is why. Just think about the people that will come back to play legacy servers, and if i am not mistaken I believe the top comment on the petition is that people will pay Blizzard a lot of money to play the version of WoW they enjoyed

I hope that slowly The Nostalrius development team releases the survey data they collected so maybe you and others can see where they were coming from when they made these decisions.

Yea man I understand that and I value that. Its just that I don't understand why Nostalrius Team is advocating for legacy servers while it started as private server. So my guess would be they consider their community is rather leaning toward private scene not something official... like don't get me wrong, I understand why would you want to play on official legacy server, a lot of things would be possible, streaming on twitch etc. but me? personally? I have no trust for activision-blizzard anymore after multiple attempts to play their content. And I feel betrayed here that a community move like this stopped being a private scene and became a "lets sell it to blizz then" move. I mean if I knew it would end like that I would never sign that pettition so theres that. I guess there are many more like me that thought they were fighting for Nostalrius to stay private and instead Nostalrius given chance is trying to convience Blizz to open their server and earn some money and while doing so feeding them all the information they need... So basicly thats my complaint, I want to unsubscribe from pettition if thats the goal here. I mean maybe it was the goal from the beginning, in that case I'm sorry that I misunderstood it. I tought Nostalrius gonna be a side representing private scene.

Except they won't say "definitely not", precisely for that reason - instead it will be swept under the rug, never to be heard of again. Unless ofc they made the Nost team sign a legal document to never release it (also possible/probable), in which case they'll use marketing-speak to say it can't be done.

Dude if I wanted my char back i'd say it directly without any shame so I dunno why you post this meme like you uncovered some mystery fact and brag about it qq :P And yea while it would be insane to get my char back as I grew into liking it quite a bit (i dunno when you joined so cant say if you can relate to your char as much as I did so I won't say anything). This thing is about principles and living up to own word. But I'm patient ill wait for whatever blizz has to say if thats what majority of this community want (even tho im not sure about that, should've made a poll about it when pettition was at its peak and ask community if we wanted to talk to blizz about Legacy or about keeping it private), after they leave you with fat corporate NO ill have my share of laughter and maybe then we will start mending our private scene again. Because atm scene is completely stopped because Blizzard threw you a bone of "maybe".
