I mean having the game more like 2007scape. Still vanilla and old school feeling, but maybe add a few things to make it non-repetitive after 2 years..

Depends on the attitude they have. If they release them begrudgingly, it'll all go south. They'll take it in the direction they took retail.
But if they go into it wholeheartedly it'll be as good, or better than, nostalrius.

Given that they release legacy, my money is on the former circumstance.

I think what would be better than messing with how vanilla works, is having a progressive server - where over time new expansions are released. Plenty of folks have tried their hand at introducing custom content onto vanilla servers, and it always ends badly.

It would be very important that you would be given the OPTION to transfer to the next expansion (different server).

Not everybody wants to go through the motions and want an actual end to their gearing rather than forever chasing the carrot on a stick.

I always found it humorous the people whom raid logged. What is the point of getting the gear if you do nothing with it.

I don't just want to kill KT and move on. I want to have every item that maxes my toon and enjoy my toon at that level doing things I used to struggle with. Or help others get past progression points that they are having issues with.

Why would I want full T3 if I am forced to then play TBC and make so much of my work obsolete overnight. If I get to the point where I am no longer happy being fully decked and want to move on, I should have that choice for when I am ready. Not because a time line says so.

Exactly this. Look at the state of retail. Nothing but bots and fly hackers. They wont ban them on legion what makes people think they will ban botters and hackers on a sideshow legacy realm. And i say its a sideshow because the current staff at blizz could honestly care less about legacy. Going back to the j allen brack blizzcon scene.

They never had any intention of doing legacy in MY opinion. The only reason they even gave any hope to us with a''we will see'' is to get everyone to buy legion. Thats because a shitload of people were cancelling their legion presales, and just the massive uproar from the nost cancellation in general.

As for nost, sure there were bots, you cant totally kill them off, but the staff did everything in their power to ban them all if they could. I hardly ever saw bots, especially in BGS (Which they are infested in on retail). I watched a streamer speed hack in ab, he went from farm to LM to stables and got banned before he could make it to mines. Thats how on top of stopping cheaters the nost devs were. You would never see that happen on retail. The speed hacker wouldnt get banned, if he did, it would be after weeks if not months before being caught.

The only thing a retail legacy realm would have better than nost is, it would be more polished and bug free. But they would also probably have their fkin cash shop , and a 60 boost, etc to go along with it. I'll take nostalrius over a blizzard ran legacy server anyday of the week. Crazy to think nost is more blizzlike than blizzard themselves.

I want them to restart WoW with vanilla and TBC, and then branch off to another expansion in the mold of Vanilla/TBC, skipping everything from WotLK and on.

One can dream.

Looks like the other 9,999,999 took part. Blizzard just announced they are NOT announcing Legacy at Blizzcon.

http://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20749678358

There's still a chance for Blizzard to make an announcement after the event but tbh, I'm not counting on it.
Nostalrius should see this as an opportunity to relaunch. Blizzard did not honor their core values, and just outright spewed this "we'll see" nonsense once more. If they do somehow announce their so called "pristine-servers", no one will give a shit because Nostalrius will be well on its way if they choose to relaunch.

The main reason I would prefer to see Blizzard launch legacy instead of simply allow Nostalrius to reopen is because I have a dream that they could create a persistent season-type condition.

Imagine this:
Classic comes out for X months.
TBC is then out, and you can copy your 60s to the TBC realm for X months.
Wrath is out, you can copy your 70s. Concurrently, a new Classic server opens.

Its basically what is already happening in the private scene up until Nost. New servers would come out every year or so and suddenly the old ones were ghost towns and the new ones where hype trains despite being very similar.
If they captured peoples apparent interest to start from scratch every few months, and gave those who wanted to play seriously something to work towards, it could really be a win win.

The way I see it, legacy realms make no sense for Blizzard because they are a dead end WITHOUT this idea. No serious player is going to spend much time at all on a copy of the game that never has new content, and much of the reason people enjoy Classic is for leveling and exploration.

This invites an opportunity for serious groups of people to be created as a sort of "race to beat the game."
You level through classic and down Naxx.
You level through TBC and down sunwell
You level through Wrath etc

Could be a VERY exciting thing to see happen.
The only other small reason I'd like blizzard to release them is then I would know they are officially supported and there would be no issues with making videos and streaming.

Otherwise, I would happily log into the characters I had months played on that are now in limbo.
But I know eventually things would get boring, as they always do when you are playing an expansion with no future content coming.
