You could replace XXXXX with the name of any private server, and have the same thoughts - basically, if you don't want to play there, don't. You won't be missed.

The only assurance that your char will live for years and years is to play retail.
To play on a private server we all willingly take the risk to loose our characters for multiple reasons.

I think that the magnitude of this risk that any server runs is proportionate to how successful it is. Hopefully, the Elysium-Nostalrius collaboration is going to provide the most successful cluster of servers yet.

Not really considering their sub numbers, but they have at least a couple more years left.
