We use the database copy from before the announcement because people have a tendency to go little crazy when the world is ending. We understand that a small minority of players kept playing seriously for that last week but their achievements pale in comparison to the losses of the majority. Heck, I remember finding a solitary player questing at Arathi Highlands, about 6 hours before closing, and he didn't even know what was going on just, merely little surprised that it was so quiet in the zone. Some players deleted their characters, others gave off all their gold and items for example to let poor players buy a mount and ride around for a day and those kinds of things.

I wish they didn't roll it back. When my account got robbed, Nost didn't give any of that back, even though I never wanted to give the shit away. They ran a "no restore, fuck you, have a nice day" policy. But now people who willingly gave their shit away, they get theirs back??? Now suddenly the server does restores??? For people who did the shit themselves??? Not the rest of us who got fucked in the past??? Where is the logic here???

That's their own fault. Nost didn't restore shit for people who got hacked, robbed, or sharded out at mailboxes, so it makes no sense for them to instead do it for people who willingly fucked their own accounts. A player gets robbed, he's told "tough luck" by the staff, but a different player sends all his own gold off willingly, and that one gets his back. That's stupid.

I do plan to salvage my account and come back, but only because it won't be on Nost. I'll be glad when we can move on from this shit staff. Elysium and even Crestfall both look to be far better than Nost ever was. I view this port as the best of both worlds, because we get our accounts back, without Nost. But even from beyond the grave, they're trying to be a dick one last time. No offense to Pottu, who is probably not in charge of the rules, but to whoever is, they won't be missed.

How does this not make sense to you? The server shutdown was an action of Nostalrius and the way players responded were a consequence of it. Therefore they felt responsible to save character data before the announcement because if the server would one day return nobody would really come back because they did stupid things. Your account, though I don't know your story, being taken over is a consequence of your actions and is not the responsibility of Nostalrius. Though if they want to maintain a good reputation they should have helped you and others who were screwed over by some outside force.

If you got hacked or sharded out at the mailbox, Nost didn't give a fuck about you, and said "tough luck". But if you gave all your shit away before the shutdown, you're getting restored. The first happened to players who didn't want it, and actually asked for the stuff back because they worked hard for it, and didn't see why they should have to work for it again. The second was done willingly by idiots; these are the ones who logically should be getting the tough luck response. You shouldn't have cleaned yourself out knowing the server might come back one day, or get transfers.
