We cannot force Bliz to do anything - witness that it took two weeks for a reply.

Bliz I think do not *want* to do Vanilla.

One of Churchill's quotes comes to mind - it is not the end, or even the beginning of the end, but it is the end of the beginning. Bliz have publically acknowledged the existane of the Vanilla movement.

I found it rather interesting that Sony/Day Break embraced the fan based Project 1999, a non-profit classic EverQuest emulation. https://www.everquest.com/news/project-1999-daybreak . While here we are sitting without a classic WoW server because Blizzard decided to do the opposite.

Yeah Pristine Realms is stuff removed/modded to imitate a vanilla server. It's not really vanilla!

Blizzards response is not the response we wanted, but we do have their attention now. We have to keep fighting for what we want. We have to let them know that we do not want Pristine servers. We want progressive Legacy servers!

Isn't this EXACTLY what we want in a vanilla server? Why would it not appeal to the community

I do not think it.

That list of changes is the tip of the iceberg. We're looking at *ten years* of retail give-aways to be removed.

In fact, if we follow that path to its simple logical extension, the more that is removed, the closer the game comes back to Vanilla, the happier we are... so why not just run Vanilla. The answer to that is that Bliz *do not want to run Vanilla*. "Pristine" is as much as they can do in the Vanilla direction without having to do things they don't want to do.

Moreover, we also need Bliz to run big, pop heavy servers - 10k+ people.

We also need them not to add new modifications - *retail-like* modifications - which the retail WoW team honestly believe will improve the game.

I do not want Bliz doing Vanila in any way, shape or form. Nost need to do it. Bliz don't get Vanilla. They are not safe custodians. Whatever they hold will not stay Vanilla.

I want legacy servers.
If blizzard cant or refuses to provide them I feel forced to play on private servers.

Humans express two responses to any given situation - one intellectual, one emotional.

We decide our intellectual response, what we *think*, but not our emotional response, what we *feel*; feelings happen *to* us.

On an emotional level, I see my reaction, and I want and I am determined to get Vanilla WoW back.

On an intellectual level, I think that the IP belongs to Bliz and they have the right to do what they like with it - including being completely dumb and refusing to allow anyone to use it.

The outcome for me of these two conflicting responses is that I will play on private servers and do everything I can to make them exist, but I will also pay a retail sub to Bliz.

If I'm going to be unethical, knowingly so, I seek to minimize the extent of that unethicality.
