The only people who were/are actually able to play ret are GMs and officers. Showing your DPS on one fight doesn't prove anything.

Especially on Feenix where half the shit wasn't working correctly. Bosses didn't correctly function, buffs could be stacked in ways they shouldn't, and fundamental mechanics like glancing blows were broken. "I did X on Feenix" renders any claim completely invalid.

Game is twelve years old and some people still act like there's some untapped harem of voluptuous women and chiseled men just waiting for a 40-man squad of perfectly min/max'ed nerds to slay raid bosses in record time (on private servers) for Homer-esque quantities of sexy-time™.

Some people do use ret paladins.
Most guilds do not. A good deal of pugs will not invite a ret paladin. I don't really know of Alliance premades with them for battlegrounds.

Play what you like, just be aware that people might simply have something to say about it. I also play unorthodox builds, and am used to that as well.

Play Ret if you like but always understand why many players wont bring them to raids.
Unlike specs like Shadow or Moonkin, Ret brings nothing to the table that justifies its spot in the raid.
Yeah you might be able to play to a level where you could do middle of the road DPS, but its not a gamble most raid leaders are willingly to take.

I dont disagree but the point I was making is they do technically "bring something" to the raid where a ret brings nothing.
Weather that something is actually good or not is another story.

I made the distinction because you actually want a Shadow Priest in a raid, but not a Chewbacca or Ret.
