After spending some time scanning Actiblizz's 110 EU servers the past couple of days in the afternoons to gauge the amount for a active player base (after work and school times) the EU numbers are shocking around 100 servers are flagged as low with around 10 max as high/medium totalling around 30k+ active players at peak times of the day across all of the servers ,you can see why Actibizz pushed for a shutdown once the TBC server was launched that would have likely pushed Nos's player count up above the current active players on retail for the EU lol :)

What numbers are you suggesting they release?
Are you suggesting no numbers be released at all?
The Nostalrius admins have actual data for registrations, activity and concurrency, they're not making numbers off the top of their heads. Are you suggesting they are?
Multiboxing and gold selling / bots were against the rules.
They gave statistics of how many they banned, subtract those numbers if you're so bothered.
Are you suggesting they should also subtract another totally arbitrary number of bots and multiboxers "not caught"? What percentage do you prefer?
When Blizzard was still reporting subscription numbers were they subtracting all the bots they haven't yet banned in their yearly banwaves to accommodate Pat Mustard?

Just trying to get a handle on what exactly is the point of your whining.
Unfortunately my original forum account was locked out.

So true. I played on Balnazzar EU back in the day and IIRC it was medium before TBC, and high for some time during TBC.. Now there's what 3-4 high player servers, a couple of medium and the rest are low.

FYI, during 13.00 today I logged onto Balnazzar and did a 1-99, I got 5 people on that server. All the rest were cross-realm folks.

No the playerbase are the ones pulling the numbers out of their asses in an attempt at I don't know what they are trying to achieve.

And sweetcheeks, I wasn't whining, just stating some actual fact that the 800k is bullcrap and the 150k is also not an accurate total.

The 800,000 accounts (not players) counts the number of accounts created since we launched. Yes, that number includes gold sellers and other spammers too.

The 150,000 active accounts (not players) counts accounts that had been logged at least once in the last 10 days. Yes, some players had more than 1 account - though many players only had one.

The 18,000 concurrent player peak (counting both PvP and PVE) is most accurate but can also be misleading because as we were an international server, the players making up this number changed during a 24-hour period. Additionally, not everyone played daily.

So what is the true player count for Nostalrius? We do not know. It has to be more than the concurrent peak for the reasons I outlined above and it has to be lower than the number of active accounts. If you want to be conservative, between 40,000 and 50,000 players sounds about right - but it could be higher than that.

And don't say that we should count IP-addresses. Vast majority of our players were on dynamic IP to begin with and some of our players used VPNs to play.

So in the end, please don't cite just one number and claim "X PLAYERS ON NOST!!!" as that can be misleading and just gives ammunition to the naysayers who try to marginalize us. Use all three figures instead and be careful not to mix up the terms! Though seeing so many games journalists repeatedly mess this up gives me very little hope.

If somebody who reports on gaming news and issues for a living cannot keep the terms - account, player, concurrent, active etc - straight in the articles they write, what hope is there for a random Youtube video maker or a forum poster?
