Honestly, I would much rather have Blizzard give us the licence (or have a kickstarter to purchase it) to play Vanilla, instead of having them open Legacy servers. I don't trust Blizzard enough to run them as well as the Nost team did, and when it really comes down to it, I just REALLY dont want the retail community leaking it's toxicity into our server.

though its retarded as hell cos when you think about it, we lack the licence to use 1.12 client and blizzard doesnt even offer this piece of software anymore.

Anyone who bought the game to any of their expansions bought the license for 1.12 client, since they were still charging for it to get to that expansion, they just eventually stopped charging for it.

It's just an outdated law not including mmo's in the abandoware section.. blizz should have no right to deprive anyone from playing the game they already bought, they can stop offering the service themselves, but they can't ban people from playing it.

I doubt Blizzard had any law basis to shut down Nost unless they're US citizens, dmca doesn't apply in EU afaik (I've tried to find any law changing this...)

One thing not many people are noticing

Take a look at the EU general forums.
Then take a look at the US general forums.

You will notice a huge difference.

having not looked at them, im going to take a guess...

EU boards are blowing up about nost and private servers
US maybe not so much.

private servers are more of an EU thing, because a US based one would get shit on, shut down, and a much higher possibility of a lawsuit

as a US player, i feel fortunate to have stumbled across dodgykabab's and hamsterwheelgaming's reviews of nost a year ago. it really opened my eyes to not only nost, but of a completely new sub-culture of private servers

US players are not given the real option of private servers. US treat corporations as gods and Blizzard will shut down all private USA servers in 10 mins, compared to the EU where it probably takes a bit of work and effort.

Wait, wut? 200million worth of damaged? I'm really curious how did he come up with that number xD
Anyway, I've looked through like 3 or 4 pages of the blizzard's topic and now I have only 1 question. Why do they dislike cata and wod and at the same time do enjoy mop?
Isn't it a bit funny that blizzards have closed nostalrius (the developers of which didn't profit from it at all), but ignored wow-circle (a Russian very popular server with a pay to win content)?
