maybe he knows his phone call wont be the deciding factor, but the continued momentum will be. This might be the timely stimpack injection we needed.

+1 on public protests, blizzcon or blizzHQ.

Something needs to be done to get more signatures tho, it needs to be published on more channels, at the current rate its only getting about 1k signatures per day. A lot more is needed!

Public protests won't change anything, nor will that dev, nor will the petition. Unless this whole thing is a publicity stunt and Blizzard's already made arrangements for a server. The only way we'll have a replacement for Nostalrius is if we use an effective method of protest that actually threatens them enough to reverse the C&D or otherwise. Because they obviously won't do it on their own no matter how much we "ask".

And Blizzard is hesitant for these reasons:

- if they reverse the cease and desist then it makes them look dumb by showing that they can't make calculated legal decisions.
- If they open a free vanilla server, they lose money.
- If they add a cash shop, people complain.
- If they charge a fee, then nobody will pay for it for many reasons like that fact that most of us have already bought the game + expansions + years of a previous sub + the option and history of free private servers.
- If they try to charge a fee but everyone rejects it, then they wasted alot of resources setting it up only for it to die and also look stupid again for appearing to run their business like amateur "screwups" who can't do anything right.
- If the server is successful, then it has the potential to dry up and die when people inevitably run out of content and get bored, but then they can't shut down the server because at least 1 person has an active account with years invested into their character.
- It they open a server then the devs look bad because it implies that a primitive version is better than live, because it is. But they still don't want that image because they want live to be the "best" version since they've spent a decade or more trying to "improve" it, and still are.

So we shouldn't expect or even want Blizzard to open their own server. What we need is for them to reverse the cease and desist and stop being careless immoral bastards. And they won't do that unless we force them to with practical methods of protest like flooding their phone support at a specific time so it can't function, or anything else that would seriously threaten the reputation or operation of the company or decision makers, and legally if possible. Standing outside Blizcon might be useful for awareness and advertising, but its mostly useless for getting Blizzard to meet our demands, just like a 200k petition.

I agree that we are running out of people to sign. The only way to get more signatures is to get more support from public figures whose followers may not already know about the petition. We saw huge jumps in sigs when JonTron posted his video (with a link), and when the Runescape community + Kern stepped in to help. I am not sure if it is doable or not to reach 200k, but I do know that the way to do it would be to get even more public figures involved. The bigger the better. It would not hurt to try to reach out to any celebrities who play or have played WoW in the past. George Fisher (of Cannibal Corpse fame) comes to mind as someone who played obsessively during either Vanilla or BC. Hell, maybe he was even on Nost.
Anyways, reaching out on social media to known celebrities who have played could give us a boost to sigs if any of them said anything. Not saying its likely to happen--just that it would help if it did
