There are a myriad of reasons. However, the psychological underpinning can be distilled to tribalism, zealotry and ignorance.

- tribalism - the behavior and attitudes that stem from strong loyalty to one's own tribe or social group.
- zealotry - excessive and single-minded zeal coupled with an uncompromising pursuit of religious, political, or other ideals.
- ignorance - lack of knowledge or information.

If you look at virtually every comment against legacy servers you'll see one, two, or all three of these ingredients. The bottom line is their collective egos won't allow themselves to admit that they feel completely threatened by the legacy movement and genuinely fear a vanilla server or legacy servers would destroy their community; which is ironic considering they have none.

IMO the explanation is much simpler than that. Ppl in the opposition "movement" to WoW:Vanilla servers are either Blizzard employees (who fear about their jobs), or ppl on the payroll of Blizzard (who fear stop receiving subsidies by Blizzard to promote WoW Retail) or simply, trolls (4Chan style) and retarded kids.

"Tribalism" and "Zealotry" are best left to be applied by the likes of Hochheimer to studying the history of the Jewish people.

Wow, that's really good news, I can't believe he's actually putting in the effort for/with us. Maybe they will release legacy by Christmas (assuming Legion content will be finished by then). I call dibs on inviting Mark to the Guild.

Kinda stupid to waste all that money and paper when could just put on a flash drive ..especially since blizzard has already released the statement that though there is obviously a want for legacy servers they still not make one that they are only focused on modern wow and the path it's going... In this case petition is not handled to a faceless corporation - Instead a lot more personal level. Mark Kern knows exactly what he is doing and why he does it like this. After all he is former inside man of the blizzard.

Physical petition is most traditional way to handle any corporate or legal petition documents - You really expect blizzard to do the printing? 400$ wasted money and office workers time? - It's our case, not theirs

If you want to have any meaningful presentation face to face with someone - have something physical to back up your points. Driving all your way to Blizzard HQ to just give 1 flash drive and then leave is like saying: "I don't really give a flying fuck about this petition."

Mark is doing great job for us and even spending his own money to do it correctly. I don't know why people still whine about it.
