Only a minor % of the people who played vanilla back in the old days (the nostalgics) and a few of retail and modern wow would come back.

What many do not realize is that if you are a player who is into the whole MMORPG thing, a very, very, very likely scenario is that instead of quitting you will just get hooked. That is the magic of the wow of old. It got players absolutely hooked to an extent that is hard to describe. Current wow just isn't close to as addictive.
Many players who haven't played vanilla or was far too young when wow came out will be in for a huge surprise. If they fit the mold for a vanilla wow fan they are in for the gaming experience of a lifetime, if vanilla servers ever become a thing that is.
they are in for the gaming experience of a lifetime

The people who signed the letter is irrelevant, most of them just did it cos watched famous streaming or just was asked to.
I know people IRL who was +rank12 and hardcore player in vanilla, they play retail from time to time, and they wouldn't come back to vanilla, why? Not because it is shit, just because they already cleared that content, and has no point on keeping playing in a limited-content game.
Btw i also want vanilla servers, dont missunderstand me

I play WoW since 2005 and i still play but i play only Vanilla .... why ? because everything that was released more than Vanilla (with some minor exceptions in TBC) was "Auto Pilot" , "Nerf" , "Change of Mechanics" and so on .. Today WoW retail is nothing but IPhone Joke. Vanilla was the real Spirit.
All my friends that was playing back in 2005/6 i seen in Nostalrius , friends that i almost forgot them since so much time didn't see , now they was here...... which mean your logic is nothing but illusion to deny reality.
