It should be like the system of ESO: one time purchase, with an in-game "cosmetics only" store. I suppose an optional subscription with benefits, as ESO has, would be good but nothing pay2win at all.

How would buy2play stop bots and scammers?
If anything, the subscription fee makes botting harder and more expensive.

On the surface of it, yea, it seems silly. But, you get a lot back for it, active customer support (at the time no in-game shop) Everything was possible to get in-game.

Where is the LIKE button?

A subscription for a Blizzard-driven legacy server is very logical - how else should they cover their costs? it is not like they will make a legacy server (if they will at all) for our blue eyes.

If there isn't money coming in each month, how are the servers paid for on an ongoing basis?

If there's no sub, then the server it seems has to be paid for by in-game purchases. I don't like these, at all, because they distract the devs from long term ongoing development, and keep them on the hop, constantly thinking of new novelties and toys for people to buy buy buy buy... and the income from these toys has to match the sub, because the server bill is the same, so people need to keep buying every month.

I'd rather pay the same amount each month just up front, flat, and *not* have an in-game store, so the devs *can* actually focus on the game.

Cosmetic stuff annoys the crap out of me personally.

I like the gear to be the gear. And frankly, beyond gear, what cosmetics are there in wow? Mounts? Yeah, please don't add anything that doesn't fit in the vanilla fantasy universe.

Nah, a sub model is the way to go. And it will be bundled with the normal sub. It is just the only reasonable way to go, at least to start with.

I would happily subscribe to play vanilla wow again. If it's quality organic vanilla content than why would I not subscribe like I did when it was released, originally in '04? I believe that the experience would be much worth the expense.

The game is not worth $15 sub. They should add 2-3$ retro wow subscription.

I'd pay up to about 50/month, I think. Vanilla means a lot to me.

Well, Blizzard (and/or Activision) already have all implemented. So probably is what unfortunatelly we will have: Buy the game.... then pay the subs, then pay for cosmetic stuff...

Hope we'll have only subs and stop from here....

I've stated this else where:

Expect a few things to increase their profits. Deluxe edition with a pet (this was blizz like as well).

Mounts (not riding skill). Popular ones such as Raptor / Tiger / Baron (Barron one may not be included as you don't need 150 riding and is still a 100% mount - or will be VERY expensive)

Subscription scrolls - this will prevent the gold sellers, as all people can now safely buy / sell these scrolls that are purchased through the item shop rather than having to deal with a 3rd party and run risk of being banned.

I know some people don't have jobs, upon hard times, or can't mentally justify $15 a month. Look at it this way, how much money do you save sitting in front of the computer for extended time windows compared to going out partying or going to a bar drinking?

Still can't afford it? Go collect cans. 50cent a day? Let me go look under my car seat...
