either blizzard is (maybe paying) nostalrius to shut up and tell the community lies, or waiting for the whole story to be forgotten..

Let's be honest here, nothing will happen, and if by any miracle it happens, it won't be what we want.

salties wrote:Is it me or does anyone else think this "vanilla server conclusion" is getting stupidly ridiculous, Nostalrius got invited to blizzard headquarters and nothing really has happend.. all they did is shake hands and discussed about god knows what and now they expect us to just WAIT?

I'm starting to think blizzard is paying nostalrius to shut up about vanilla servers and thinking hopefully the whole story will be forgotten..

blizzard doesn't even have the gutt's to tell us straight on whats going on about the vanilla servers, they are probably telling nostalrius to explain more rubbish lies, because obviously the community will believe the creaters of nostalrius..

thoughts please..

Like what others have already previously stated, large companies can't just make a decision with the snap of their fingers. Unfortunately that is not the reality of how large businesses work, things just take time. And trust me I know it can be really hard, but you can do it! I believe in you!

You think that Blizzard is paying Nostalrius development team to silence them about vanilla servers? That is nonsensical, and stop thinking that way please and thank you. A volunteer driven group that did this for free already, and now they act as ambassadors of legacy to the community. I seriously doubt that the Nostalrius Development team would be tempted to just take the money and run. These are a group of people that stand up for what they believe in.

Keep in mind too, that Blizzard has to be careful to what they say now, everyone is looking at them right now. Not to mention the media is heavy involved as well and can pressure them. So they can't just drop this entire situation, and walk away.

salties wrote:Seriously though, all nostalrius did was just walk into blizzard headquarters and probably didn't even ask if they could open the vanilla servers..

"My thought is that you are not patient." Patient? are you mad?! is it really that hard to say yes or no to a vanilla server, there is no "maybe" "if legion fails" THERE IS ONLY -YES- OR -NO-

They had a 2 hour meeting with top Blizz people that ended up being 5 hours long you dumb sack of fuck. People crucial to all sorts of pieces of the company cleared their entire fucking day to sit down with the Nost guys and really pore over everything. Be as salty as you want about the entirely wrong direction they're taking the game, but don't be a cunt about it. Be realistic and objective about what's going on. A behemoth like Blizzard doesn't turn on a dime, especially when it comes to an 11 year old continuous product. JFC chill your fucking nuts already. We all lost the same thing you did.

And whats your plan? Host it yourself and employ people? You are one of those sad kids who are just crying about your lost char, iv seen you qq about how they should release their db  Dont you understand that releasing it would be a slap in the face when it comes to the attempt of getting offical legacy servers? Of course you dont -.-

and FYI, when im talking about quality, i mean the whole endevour, gms, devs etc, 30+ people. Now please go bitch somewhere else about how they should destroy their (and the communities) effort by doing a stupid thing like releasing all the code and data behind blizzards back.

I understand what it would mean dude and thats exactly what i want lol... i don't want jack shit legacy servers if they will be ran by fucktivision, especially if they will charge me again for that content, I value it as a nostalgia content but i wouldn't pay for it nowadays. So instead as a part of community and part of a movement I want Nost Team to stand to their word and release code/database despite what they are trying to achieve atm with Blizzard as its completely seperate thing, they first promised something to community and then changed their attitude and goals so by this they already divided community. And you know I'm right, just by having 2 guys like you and me here proves that, you are the one that hopes for Legacy like it was a bone for you to gnaw on, I'm the one that don't want legacy servers and I don't agree to take my participation in this movement and use it in that endeavour. Instead I'll give voice to what I want and all you can do is bash your keyboard and type down your 'murican insults.

Blizzard is a large company. I work in technology at a large firm also. To get stuff done, it takes a looooooong time. People also don't realize how much $$$ doing this will actually take and that it's all about ROI. If the ROI, return on investment, isn't big enough, Blizzard won't bother doing legacy servers. It has nothing to do with how easy or how hard. It has everything to do with $$$$.

Ofc but it also hurt them financially to have bad PR from angry nostal ppl. Thats why I think that this whole meeting was not about any promises and in-fact lack of decision is not because its hard to decide on fly for a big company but because it was a damage mitigation move all along. And believing Nost Team in what it actually was? Nah sorry... these guys have a potential lawsuit over their heads, I won't believe they are equal side here that stand for anything except their own safety anymore (i totally get that, its just I'm not buying what they're selling anymore, so to speak)

Or Nostalrius just did everything they could in this matter.
Blizz can't make a decision in such a short amount of time.

We'll probably hear something about Legacy-Realms at Blizzcon, and MIGHT see them in 2017. Again, we need to be patient now and not ruin this opportunity by insulting each other and pointing fingers at someone.
