I would much prefer the old database comes back on line.
I spent far too much time on those characters and I do NOT find it fun having to restart every few months. Previously it was because people would abandon servers whenever the new hype idea came out, but there was finally stability in Nostalrius. It was the front runner, and rightfully so. It was never going to fall into that trap, and I felt comfortable dedicating hundreds of hours into it when other games and WoW expansions weren't able to hold my interest.

But ultimately, it too bit me in the ass. All that time was flushed down the drain. If there is going to be a rebirth, it needs to be a permanent solution.
That is another reason I would prefer to see Blizzard host the servers themselves.
But this seems increasingly unlikely.
If we MUST start over, I will reluctantly return and start leveling the first of the 4-5 toons I will inevitably travel with, but it damn well better be in an environment where this same thing isn't going to just happen again down the road.

Ultimately I think that resetting will be better for the server, The first and foremost reason that Nost attracted alot of people after the fact of its shutdown, and if It were to come back. I imagine we would see a huge influx of a 2nd wave of people coming to play, but it would put them all quite a bit behind the 8 Ball.

The second reason is that this time it would hopefully come with both a PVP and PVE Server at the same time, Allowing people their choice of server, without having to reroll to the new server later down the line.

Finally, I just feel like that is the best way to handle things now that the dust has finally settled. Its been 7 months, and I just feel like it would be a breath of fresh air to get a fresh start.

For god's sake, why would they wipe the character data and not just introduce a new server or two along with the original servers?

Don't get me wrong, I think new servers are a good idea. There will definitely be a massive influx of players if they do decide to reboot the servers, but what about all the people who invested a ton of time into their characters before the server went down? Do we get the middle finger because we helped make the server what it was? And what about all the people who are invested in another vanilla server or game right now, and would come back to play their old characters, but don't want to remake their characters for the third fucking time?

Fresh start. It'll be about 7 months since Nost went down. It's difficult for many people to resume characters after that long.

You're going to have to elaborate on this, because it seems way harder to level another 60, grind another epic mount, spend another half of a year in MC, and do all the other grinds that come with starting fresh on a vanilla server, than it is to pick up right where we left off.

I agree with Ceagull, the Nost veterans should be able to play their characters if nost decides to reboot. Personally I would not mind re leveling on official legacy or crestfall if that is our only hope. But if my favorite server decides to make a come back I would love to have my hunter back and continue on the path to AQ40

Ya I would really agree with those saying we should get our old info back.
A fresh start seems far more likely, but man would it sting. A new server would be way more appropriate for all the new people that will come in.
Especially considering they may start from scratch progression wise.
I would even support some community driven event to level faster, but I simply DREAD having to relevel and regear all those toons on top of reestablish a guild and get back to grinding gold.
I love Classic as much as any other game, but if we are playing on Nostalrius again, I'd like to at least be able to have the option to continue with those characters, even if the bulk of the community is on a new realm they create. Starting over so many times is a bit dissatisfying.
Especially after coming off that ban nonsense that happened because of the hacks. It really set me and my friends back, and then a few weeks later we find out the server is shutting down!

A companys goal is to make money/profit, but they seem to have passed the point to where they put their pride or some stupid shit first and therefor feel/think that making legacy servers would be like admitting they failed big time (which they did).
