Also i think the copy will be done once by the Nostalrius team whether you're gonna play on the TBC realm or not.

you don't get my point, I'm stating that if you put all your gold on one char and move it over, whats to send you then putting all your gold on another then moving that and so on and so forth thus duping gold.

ofc they won't tell us until it's too late.

I'm glad this debate is actually constructive as it is legit a possible issue, I'm proud of the community.

Unless they want to invite name stealing or forced re-name it will need to be a one time snap-shot copy as done in past with PTR.
Or allow grace period of all vanilla name reserved, and player triggered transfer with low gold limit + no non-bound items.

The reasonable, working theory is it will be a snapshot. That's already been stated several times. If ya want to jump in the discussion, read the entire thread. I think many would prefer a wholesale, open-ended transfer, but as of yet, the only word being used by staff is "copy".

The problems with a snap-shot are many which can only be resolved on an individual basis by well advanced forewarning. Each of us will have to make up our minds what is going and what is staying so that you can plan for the eventuality. For some, it will be a no brainer as whatever we have is what is going. But even then, if there is a lead time beween the snapshot and the copy, problems could arise. You may acquire something in advance of the copy which you now wish you could take with you but cannot. Also, for the truly indecisive, you may regret how you set yourself up for the snapshot.

If there is no leadtime between snapshot and copy and it is truly a one time event, some of the problems arrising from indecision and a change in your toon's situations, wll be averted. However, you could still suffer some remorse from poor decisions.

The problem with a snapshot is that it is absolutely inflexible.

The other thing Devs have to consider, which we have not thus far is, this will be promoted as a new realm...for new people. So, even if to us it makes complete sense to take all of our goodies with us, to them it may seem an unreasonable distribution of wealth having some weird effects on the economy that I could not, in all honesty fathom right now. There's a gazillion different solutions for this.
