Some-one said that they did shut down the Chinese ones already. I have been wondering how myself. You can use a company that will pay the bribe for you via a "marketing fee" to get the lawyers to act. I guess if they wanted to they could do the same in Russia.

WoW is operated by Netease( it was 9 city in Vanilla phase), a Chinese company which is authorized by BLZ to run every BLZ's game in China. Import online games must be run and operated by a Chinese company according to China's law. So the private server, especially grown one will hurt and share the Netease's market and affect their profit, Chinese gov. absolutely will shut down these servers.

China was once a great place to do private servers but since MOP blizzard has had an official presence there. So China finally got around to helping Blizzard shut down private servers. After all MOP was a tribute to China and the Communist party found Blizzards c*&K sucking satisfactory enough to give Blizz a towel.
