stop crying about item reserving... i mean sure theres total idiots that cba to tank BRD as fury and wanna reserve the tank pieces, 2 crit chest, ironfoe, hoj and are "LF 1 tank brd" but reserving an item is an ok way to find a 5th that can roll on everything but 1 rare item in a grp that's gonna basically clear it for him and that he didnt get together on his own...

Reserving items is simply an efficient way to align mutual interests. What people complaining about it don't understand - and this is just complete idiocy - is that these raids wouldn't even be happening in the first place if those items couldn't be reserved. You are not choosing between having a dungeon/raid with reserves to a run without, you are choosing between a raid with reserves or no raid at all.

Do you really think there is a snowball's chance in hell that a full BWL-geared tank who needs nothing in MC besides bindings is going to organize a PUG, bring a dozen of his full BWL-geared friends who also don't need any loot, lead the raid, handle player checks, handle loot distribution, etc. if he wasn't able to reserve those bindings? Of course not. All of those PUG MCs you see advertised would never even happen.

So yeah, warriors/rogues who were really counting on being able to pug their Thunderfury are going to have their dreams shattered, and yet somehow, magically, rogues & warriors are the classes that you'll always have the least trouble filling up in an MC pug.

Generally stupid reserves like LF2M casters for Rend run Briarwood reserved, or LFM DPS for DME Magister farming, Mindtap reserved - shit like that is going to struggle to ever find people precisely because mutual interests don't intersect.

This pretty much hits the spot.

Good reserves:
Something is provided in exchange. This is often a skilled, geared and knowlidgeable raid-leader and/or Maintank. As mentioned above, if noone could reserve bindings, there would never ever be any MC pugs. Ever.

Bad reserves:
Rogues (or other non-essential, easy to replace classes) reserving HoJ, Dalrends etc or worse yet a fury warrior reserving Ironfoe while not wanting to tank.

It's all about having some sort of leverage, or providing the group with something in return.

I came here looking for a vanilla-like experience, hoping to relive the best moments of retail vanilla. In part, my expectations have been met and plenty of fun has been had. However, there is a major difference - the community is utter cancer in contrast to real vanilla. The oligarchy of a few top guilds, who deem themselves superior to everyone else and poison everything with their elitist special snowflake attitude, is not that bad on its own, but for heaven's sake, stop giving them the attention they are looking for. Don't feed the voracious maws of a bunch of assholes with too much time on their hands. Whipper root tubers and all other drama... Please stop.

Cartels and monopoly are another example of a tumour in the fine organism of this server. A select few people teaming up and preventing others from accessing game's elements is a pretty vile thing. And yet, people are more than willing to buy leather farmed in such way.

People are only looking forward to grieve others as much as possible. Instead of being helpful and nice, they are toxic and obnoxious. Where is the friendliness and genuity, so widespread in vanilla? Where is the lust to explore, work together to beat the challenges? To have sheer, unlimited fun?

Yeah, this shouldn't be so surprising to me in the first place. Vanilla is old, past challenges have been dulled by time, people are looking for new ways of entertaining themselves. Furthermore, we live in an utterly wretched era - an era of cynical youth, devoid of dreams, imprisoned by technology, seeking only to indulge themselves in hedonism and benefit from someone's misadventure and feeling entitled to special treatment.

Item reservations are just a manifestation of the rotten spirit of this community. It's no longer heartfelt, friendly folk. Now it's a game of social facades, masquerades and perennial fight for status.

Tbh I think I agree wholeheartedly with you, I just think denouncing it out loud achieves nothing and is therefore a waste of time and energy. I simply play with a few friends in my own side projects, trying to avoid as much as possible the regular crowds you describe.

I totally agree with this post, it's very sad and un blizzlike the server is awesome alone and the gms for their dedication no doubt, but the community here is disgusting like I see people reserving righteous orbs, and those orbs are one of the only reasons you enter strat live at lvl 60.... To make gold from runs same goes with every other dungeon and raid, these reservers act like they are the only ones on a mission to get geared it's giving the server a bad name the community is what makes the server and ofc people that get offended by these kind of posts are the ones that usually do the reserve groups so it's understandable, but I'll say it again its unblizzlike and pathetic
