I don't know, I saw it as a good sign. Even pro-legacy comments on the thread have many thumbs up, anti-legacy thumbs down or hidden. People with WoW subs always seemed anti-legacy because they're into the current content, and unsubbed people can't write on the forums. I'm sure at Blizzcon there will be enormous pressure to address it from fan questions and so forth.
Maybe people are right though and Blizzard is tunnel-visioned on their current projects. But I have to think that WoW devs would love to play vanilla, they'd love to provide the service to fans, and even current subscribers want to play vanilla during mid-patch downtime.
Almost everyone is on our side, except the Activision Blizzard higher ups who want to min-max profit and a few fans who theorycraft that legacy servers might bankrupt the company.
