Nostalrius was already a non profit fan project, nothing changed.

I am not sure what they are thinking. It cant be "that hard" if a team of volunteers could pull it off! At least Im not loosing hopes until after Blizzcon for possibly E3. "One last announcment.. Vanilla is back!"
Like really.
1. Hire the Nost staff
2. Let em host a server in Blizzards name
3. ??????
4. Profit

Take most companies these days, the are selling licenses for franchises. I do not see McDonalds having issues with licensing their IP via franchising to all the shops. IP is IP.
Once you acquire a license for a private server based on their IP, legality is no longer a question. Would not be surprised to see such an announcement from Nostalrius soon.

Then why not contract the Nost Devs voluntary work scheme or even pay them. And licence it as an Official Legacy server Blizzard host it they require a monthly sub to allow access, job done.

Potatomaster wrote:Like honestly pristine servers dont seem like a BAD idea at first.
Lets see what they need to remove
transmog
completely rebalance all the low level raids , dungeons, zones
completely rebalance pretty much EVERY SINGLE thing
As new expansions come out, you now have 2 SEPERATE games that you have to seperately balance
remove LFG, LFR
completely rebalance pretty much everything, and do IT constantly as new content is realeased.
I have no idea how this would be cheaper than legacy servers. I mean legacy servers might have somewhat of a large upfront cost at first, but then, you leave them and done.
With pristine you have to constantly make new changes to the game. IMO this would cost even more in the long run...
BUT ATLEAST THEY ANSWERED. That's a good sign.
