Hello to everyone, I will be short and I just want to share few information on this topic. I have information that the legacy server will be without monthly fee. Also, I know that Blizzard already knows how to earn money from it. So, don't worry about monthly fee, and don't worry about how Blizzard earns there money.

Peacebringer I am going to try to explain why people are getting so upset, and I hope it makes some sense to you.

We are in the middle of a revolution .. we want legacy servers, we are all backing it and signing petitions and begging Blizzard to please bring back the fun. Blizzard has been of the opinion that it's not going to happen and it's not worth their time and the players really don't want to pay for it so there is no real demand. They think we just play private servers because they are free and no other reason.

We are trying to get Blizzard to see that no, we do not play private servers because they are free, we play them because we want to play Vanilla content (and TBC, Wolk, w/e your preference). So now they are paying attention to us .. yes we finally got them to notice that we desire this and will do whatever it takes to get this going and we will support them 100% to give us our legacy servers with original Blizzlike progression and no pay to win crap or online store. Just clean beautiful legacy servers that made this game great. This is the reason Nost was so popular and did what other private services could not do. They kept the game true to its original version. Many of us supported Nostalrius financially by donating to keep their servers up, so yes we do think this OLD game exactly how is was in 2004 is worth our money.

Then here comes Peacebringer saying .. well we want it, but we don't want to pay for it because it's old content, etc. etc.

What do you think Blizzard's reaction would be if we all started saying that? They would say well fine ... if you don't want to pay for our time and efforts, well then we won't even bother with Legacy servers because obviously you don't want to support them financially. I'm not sure if you understand that they will have to pay employees who are on the legacy team, and all the overhead that goes with running a company (hardware, software, coffee) even if no one pays a subscription fee, that overhead still needs to be paid. But it seems you have the view that these things don't have a cost and people should not get paid for their time because it's an old game.

So yeah .. people are angry with you because you are giving Blizzard ammunition to argue against Legacy servers. Why should they even bother because if everyone thought like you, then it just isn't worth their time to focus on Legacy server. Do you really think a one time payment will suffice? What should they do after the money runs out with the one time payment from everyone? Just shut down the server again because no one will mind losing all their 60s again.

It really stinks that people do not understand this simple concept. I'm trying to figure out if you are a troll or just really naive and don't understand that Blizzard is 100% financially motivated. They are a corporation, they answer to their stockholders, have employees, have overhead.

You can have your opinions, but when Blizzard says sorry no new servers because there is no real interest to support Legacy servers, well that will be on you and other people who feel that Blizzard owes us because we already paid for the game and its OLD.

You (and all with your opinion) will have to live with the knowledge that your voices were louder than ours and you got your way and now there are no Legacy servers.

Wall of condescending text summary: Some people think they should play the game for free because they already bought it. Other people think they should have to pay for the game because servers and people to run them cost money. And they're worried that if we refuse to pay or even say we won't then Blizzard won't make a server for us. So they get mad at people who disagree because they're fanboy cucks.

I've spent over $200 on WoW alone to say the least. What game do you know costs that much and more to play it? How many free to play online games to you know of? How many free vanilla wow private servers do you know of? How much money does Blizzard make in a month with millions of subscribers along with all other revenue? How did Nostalrius run for free for years? Blizzard can't do it? Or won't? The least they could do is give us a free private legacy server. I'm not going to beg them for an old game that's good but overvalued because of nostalgia and the this over romanticized "revolution". If Blizzard won't host a true free vanilla server and a new private server doesn't appear then i'll simply refuse to play or do something else. Seriously, the more energy I invest into this the more it makes me realize how mediocre wow actually is and how much time i'm wasting on these forums. And if Nostalrius was supported by donations then Blizzard can do the same.
