Hey there, i'm wondering if it's worth leveling in a group of two or three as i'm not sure if it's worth losing out on alot of mob kill exp for getting quests done faster?
also would like to know if theres any essential guides/addons out there that can impact leveling speed?
Thanks

The addon "Questie" is very usefull to complete quests.
As for leveling.. The best way is to solo grind mobs.

I personally avoid grouping unless really necessary (elite quests/rare mob etc) as the exp you get from grinding is valuable especially in vanilla where you run out of quests at ~58 (assuming you only kill mobs related to your quests, do little to no grinding and run few or no dungeons at all) and have to grind the rest of the way to 60. I suggest you use Joana's leveling guide (for horde that is) paired with ShaguQuest. The guide is very well thought in terms of efficiency and making every step, flight path and hearthstone matter.

Vanilla guide is a a simple and great guide, cut off about 3 days on my way to 60 the second time.

Greetings and welcome to Nostalrius!
Despite popular claims otherwise, there are more than enough quests in vanilla World of Warcraft to reach 60. The absolutely fastest way to reach 60 is a mixture of questing and grinding - you do the quests that are quick to complete and require little if any travelling while skipping difficult and slow quests, making up the difference by grinding.
Leveling as a group will be slower than going solo but, a group is less likely to be ganked by enemy faction, will be able to complete elite quests quickly and forming a dungeon group goes fast. Doing each dungeon once to complete the quests in them is certainly worth the time as both the XP and item rewards are significant. Kill quests should go very quickly while item collection quests will be slower to complete than on solo.
As others mentioned, using a guide can be helpful - a number of quests are hard to find or require obscure pre-quests that lie off the beaten path. For example, one Alliance quest for Blackfathom Deeps starts in Stormwind and requires a stop at Auberdine and you cannot start the chain at Auberdine, even though the first part is literally nothing but "Go to Auberdine and talk to NPC".
The GM team.

Focus on leveling as much as possible. Remember that wasting time adds up, which includes "small" tasks like running places, chatting, doing tradeskills, instances, etc. After spending alot of time leveling professions and doing things other than questing (for a reason), i've learned that its just not worth it (as people have said). Thus, the fastest way to possibly level is to get questie, then grind out "worthwhile" quests as fast as you possibly can while avoiding EVERYTHING else, except running an occasional instance for a weapon upgrade to help you grind faster. But farming instances isn't worth it, and constantly ask yourself the question "am I questing right now or not?" If not, get to it. Peace.

Or you can just enjoy the ride of this wonderful RPG and leave the "ZOMG! RACE TO THE MAX LVL!" stuff on retail.....

I've experienced plenty of low level content from playing this game for years since I started in open beta. And I've been taking my time anyway though by running instances and leveling professions anyway though. But even that is illogical because its much easier to make money (and level professions) at 60, and there's no point in running instances for gear you'll replace anyway, except for weapons to help you level. And I enjoy the game more when i'm 60, because that's when you can actually begin getting powerful.
