Leveling Crafting Proffesions Early or Late Game

Just wondering when do you guys think is the best time to level Crafting Professions. I'm doing Blacksmithing and was leveling it as i go with copper now that I'm up to bronze I'm wondering if i should just wait till I'm 60 and speed level it or keep worrying about it as i level? Would the gear actually make leveling easier or is it not worth the time early game?

I did mine during, but I did Eng/Tailoring, I got my eng up really early. Was a lot of fun having Rocket Boots, Grenades, Green Lens oFW (at L35), Robe of Power etc. for my mage.

Really depends how experienced you are, I'm guessing "not very" since you're asking this (not a judgement, BTW)... Conventional wisdom says if this is your first character and you don't have a ton of gold you should concentrate on gathering profs while leveling then catch up with crafting later. Keep in mind also most recipes and plans, especially as you get higher level, will require mats that are either expensive or a pain in the ass to get-- which means they'll be a lot easier at 60 when you have spare cash and a mount.

As far as whether they'll help you-- most profs have a ton of junk and a precious few things that are tremendously useful and/or sell for lots of $$.. If you want to take advantage of crafting when leveling it's a good idea to read some guides first so you know what to plan for, what not to bother with, etc. In general it's best to just get as much gold as possible while leveling though.. And stockpile for crafting later.

Since you're doing professions that complement each other, leveling your profession as you go shouldn't be a problem. I also believe that having decently leveled professions is crucial when you're starting to draw close to level 40 so you have an income to pay for that mount.

Level your professions the best you can while leveling main focus should be on your gathering profession my mining was level 300 around mid 50's but coming from someone who leveled BS to 300 just level it as you can but don't go out of your way to farm ore and such to level it. I was only at around 220-230ish at level 60 for BS and the last 50 levels get pretty rough resource wise (mostly a ton of thorium).

Basically just make sure you keep up with your gathering profession and finish up your crafting profession after 60. As far as making gear while leveling there were only a few pieces that were even worth crafting compared to gear easily obtainable from dungeons.

This makes sense, as long as a player can gather enough ore/herbs to keep on pace with their character level and transitioning through zones. I'm leveling BS and Mining. I'm running into the issue of simply not finding enough ore along the way to fuel the needs of leveling BS. I still need a crapload of bronze, but I"m already questing and leveling in zones with mostly Iron nodes. So I either have to sacrifice character leveling speed as I hang in zones to farm ore, or I need to ignore professions, speed up to lvl60, then come back (with a mount) and catch my professions up.

Every character i've leveled so far (60 priest, 60 paladin, and soon to be 60 shaman) i've done their profs while leveling. it's a nice break from the grind and sometimes makes a little money back which is nice since I like to not funnel money into alts.

If you have time, and the zones are not barren of nodes, i recommend leveling crafting as you're leveling your character. This way you will keep up with the zones and various node changes without having to go back in order to traverse into the next tier of mats.

However, if you want to experience questing and character leveling without spending extra time on gathering mats, then level up to 60, get some nice big bags and then go back and zoom through the zones leveling up your professions. It's really up to you.
