Griefing World Dragons

Tonight Dreamstate failed to down Emeriss after hours of attempts and when another raid was formed to kill it, they intentionally wiped the raid repeated by having a tank with a group of healers taunt the boss into the raid. As I remember it, this was against the ToS in original, retail vanilla. A GM has said that "This isn't retail Vanilla by Blizzard" and has said that this isn't against any rules here on Nostralius. How do people feel about this? Is it not different for your own faction to grief you? If it is the opposing faction you have recourse, you can kill the player, stop them, however when it is your own faction, you have absolutely zero way to stop them. After tonight I have no doubt that the four world dragons are going to be griefed constantly. I can't imagine why the Nostralius dev's wish for this to be the new norm.

It's in everyone's best interests to cooperate on the world bosses. Even horde and alliance could agree to take 2 dragons each and swap next time. All guilds that want to participate should have people in the area helping out and put a few people that need items from the boss in the main loot raid. Selfishly trying to keep a dragon for your own guild will waste everyone's time because it will just get griefed non-stop and make other guilds less likely to cooperate. So Dreamstate now have to compete against horde guilds and the likes of nope and coalition for the dragon kills. They've made things harder on themselves in future for the sake of 1 dragon kill.

This sucks and I totally understand you and others are upset.

The rules on Nostalrius is pretty clear though:

Nostalrius Begins recognizes all valid play styles to be part of the game

https://en.nostalrius.org/terms-of-use

What this means is that as long as they are not exploiting bugs, hack, multibox, safespot or similar it's all allowed on Nostalrius.

Pottu expressed this in a pretty clear way in an other thread (that issue was about cross-faction cooperation to farm devisaur leather and gank competitors)

Greetings,
if you suspect a player of multiboxing (or account sharing, gold selling, botting, etc), please make an in-game ticket (red question mark -> stuck -> still stuck, page a GM) and write the names of the characters in the ticket. We will then investigate.
As our terms of use currently stand, Devilsaur farming is allowed, even if it involves cross-faction cooperation.
If you wish this to change, you can post in the Suggestion forum and describe in detail the change you would prefer - posting there, however, does not guarantee that the administrators agree with you.
The GM team.

We actually coorperate with a lot of guilds. Not with you, however, as you decided to try to fuck us. Stay mad, we got the kill.

Griefing is allowed on this server, whether be it intentional, cross-faction, same faction or otherwise. This was acknowledge by Pottu (quoted above) as being acceptable behavior.

Yes, in retail vanilla same faction griefing was considered a suspendable/bannable offense. However, here on Nostalrius GMs simply don't have enough time to play police for such silly things - toxic gameplay is encouraged, just don't hack/exploit.

It's been our policy that fighting for World Bosses is a free for all. As long as no one is cheating or abusing bugs in any way, groups competing for world boss kills are allowed to do what they decide is in their best interest.

The same questions were brought up about using level 1's to heal up Kazzak on the PVE server. The conclusion the GMs came up with (to the best of my knowledge) is that so long as the player is not multiboxing, they are free to use whatever mechanics that are legal to prevent the boss from being killed. This includes preventing players of your own faction from killing the boss.

So in the case of him taunting the boss and wiping your raid, it is legal on Nostalrius, even though it was illegal on Retail Vanilla.
