How is Nostalrius sustainable?

First off, I am grateful for all the work the developers and GMs of this server have put into making this as close to vanilla as possible. Secondly, I also thank them for not letting this server be "pay to win". My question is how is this server sustainable for the long term without a subscription fee or a donation area? I get that if they have ads on the site they get revenue that way through impressions and click through rates etc. I'm just wanting these guys to keep up the good work and keep this sever going for a long time.

If that's the case then great! But when would they find time to work on bugs for the game? Not saying it's impossible just maybe not necessarily feasible

takes about 500 dollars a month to maintain this server. they get about quadruple that from chinese donations

I too wonder about this. Is it funded by some rich guy who loved vanilla or something? That's how I imagine it.

Actually that's how most of these niche projects and hobbies go. Like a convention I've helped organize and manage - thanks to our jobs we were able to throw our own salaries into the pool and provide much better experience for lower price point while getting that warm, fuzzy feel of helping people and bringing entertainment into their lives =)
