(This debate is independent from the fact what a realistic release of the TBC realm might be.)
So i have been reading the comments about the Nostalrius TBC project and noticed a trend (like most of you probably did). On one hand there are people who want TBC ASAP, on the other hand there are those who would like to see the timeline finish without a new TBC realm.
Population: There are way too many people on the pvp realm atm. If you release TBC when everyone is done with vanilla content and ready to go to TBC, we will have 12k players in Hellfire Peninsula, it will be unplayable, and vanilla will be mostly empty. We will just face server issues with an unstable new realm(again). It might be a good thing for the tbc server to slowly steal players away, thus reducing lagg and server issues on vanilla.
Content: There is no point to force others who aren't interested in vanilla content to wait around 10-12 months if the realm is ready before that. Even if half the vanilla pvp realm leaves (which is highly unlikely). You will still have twice the normal blizzzlike playerbase to finish content. Even if the TBC realm releases early, when you finish naxxramas, the tbc realm would be still at gruul/karazhan/early SSC, it would be fairly easy to catch up.
It's clear that Nostalrius has a timeline which we should follow, however there are good reasons to launch an early TBC realm!
Upon reading the comments i didn't understand why people are so against an early release...
A suggestion to solve the headstart issue:
One possiblity would be to simply allow the character copy option when the official pvp vanilla timeline is finished. Until then who wishes to join the TBC early, would have to start a fresh character.
Having such an early PTR is very promising!
I posted this somewhere before, but there were no threads about this so DISCUSS!
Thanks.
