I forsee an Issue

So, with the TBC realm that will be coming in the future I see an issue.

Since the GM's have confirmed Char COPY from the vanilla to TBC realms, does this not mean there is going to be lots of gold/item duping.
For example. Char A copies his character to the TBC realm
Char A then sends all his gold/items to char B then copies that over.

Char A has now doubled his gold just by mailing to his own character.

Could I get a GM response about a failsafe to this, or else prices will be absolutely ridiculous.

Excellent remark !

However, fixing this will also provide for a huge downside, as I guess they will probably limit the transfers per 1 charachter/account max., with a gold cap. Wich I imagine for a lot of players will s*ck balls, too.

I assume (or hope) that the database will be the same. So it's like mailing your current gold over to one of your alts - It doesn't dupe.

I was sure I had read something about this so here it is. They have thought about this and will adress that issue in some way:

Viper wrote:Characters already created on our Vanilla PVP & PVE servers will be able to be copied on the TBC realm under condition, not to have a negative impact on the economy, which will be described when the server will be ready to use.

hm. interesting. I'm just sitting here thinking about that. Either the character on both realms is the same character so that any action performed on one realm is mirrored on the other, which would be freaky and unwieldy or, instead of a copy of the character, it needs to be a complete transfer of the character from one realm to another. Am I right?

I'm hoping it doesn't end up being limts per account or limits per IP or whatever, because my plan all along has been to set my self up for moving to TBC my one account with 6 professions and the resources I have collected. Any such limits wouldn't stop duping through sharing resources anyways....so it can't be that.

I've thought a little about this before and I'd imagine the copy to TBC has to have a limited window. Economically, it is possible some avenue by which to gather resources/gold will be, in some cases, more lucrative to amass on the vanilla realm and then transfer to the TBC realm. Gems come to mind....and really anything a gatherer can collect. Also CDs on crafting.

I think they have a plan on limiting the items and gold that get carried over per account to avoid stockpiling or attempts to duping.

It would be pretty cool if all characters was only allowed bring their level and nothing else. Imagine thousands of naked heroes running through the portal into Hellfire Peninsula engaging demons in a huge fistfight.

Reduce the vendor price for equiped items to few coppers, make them undiisenchantable, make a 10-20g gold cap on transferring characters and make a 5-7 day transfer cooldown per account. Its not rocket science.

Maybe they will simply do a one time character list copy, copying all characters on your character list to the TBC realm, and not doing any additional copies after the first wave.

Simply take a snapshot of all toons during the maintenance pre launch of the Burning Crusade server.

Players can then copy that toon over and whatever they've done on the toon in Vanilla since TBC launched is not kept.
Any players who started after TBC server came out can't copy the toon from Nostalrius Vanilla, but must recreate one when they finish their Vanilla journey.
